We loved the hotel! We stayed there because of an early morning flight and the location was perfect to get to the airport (5 mins by car). We travelled with a baby and there was a cot provided for us and free parking in the underground car park. We had dinner in the restaurant to not have to leave the hotel and the food was lovely. The bar area has a nice area to sit for drinks. The staff were friendly and it was very clean. We will definitely be back!

The staff were excellent, it was very modern with a great shower. The breakfast was exceptionally good, the location was great for the beach, not a fault, it’s a little far away from the port, bus station, train stations and town, but an easy short taxi ride to get to it. I found it easy to walk within 40 minutes.

A handsome, friendly city which is undoubtedly underrated as a destination. Safe, clean, lots of varied sights, beautiful coastal walks right from the city centre. Inexpensive! Superb prehistoric museum. Bring a jacket / umbrella, it's cooler and wetter than elsewhere in Spain. Note: it is a very monolingual area: other than in hotels and the occasional individual in a shop or cafe, most people there speak ONLY Spanish!

Santander is a vibrant, fun and energetic city with plenty to occupy any visitor. The food options are to many to count and the bars are fun and friendly through the evening.

I saw lots of reviews recommending this town.
I saw lots of reviews recommending this town. It was not for me. The planetarium, which many raved about? Closed. Has been closed for a while, actually. And apparently when it was open, it wasn't open to walk-ins. Tour groups only, pre-booked, minimum of 5 people.
Many restaurants were reservation only, actually. Many more were closed.
Saw my first homeless tent encampment ten minutes after arriving in the city. Graffiti everywhere. So many ATMs on Google maps, marked closed. Shops closed or going out of business. "Rebajas" signs everywhere. So many multi-lingual beggars.
Lots of smashed windows, sadly. The town looked like some of the worse areas of other cities I've been to, but all over. Even the church, which was recommended as a very nice building, had homeless and beggars in it. I was there on Sunday (so many things closed) and Monday. For a place supposedly well known for it's meals of fresh fish, mine was bland at best. For a Spanish town, surprisingly few tapas places.

Santander is so quaint.
Santander is so quaint. The historic buildings are beautiful. There are so many bars, tapas bars and restaurants everything is so easy to find and within walking distance. It just felt so clean and just a lovely place to visit we will be back. We went to Bilbao for the day on the bus from the bus station, but pre book your seats as it’s always busy. It takes about 1.5 hours but well worth it then you can jump on the tram line into the centre
There were too many bars and restaurants to mention but the one right outside the hotel was wonderful too.

We used Santander as a base to explore prehistoric caves, historical sites and the surrounding parks. Six days barely got us started. I will say going in January worked well as temperatures were mild and rain was sporadic. We didn’t leave enough time to explore all the city but people were friendly, there were new things to see everywhere and the food is great.

My wife and I have visited Santander on several occasions,...
My wife and I have visited Santander on several occasions, but did not go into the city centre on this occasion as we wanted a hotel that was within a short journey to the airport for an early flight the following morning. The Hotel Chiqui facing the Sardinero beach fitted our requirements perfectly.
Upgraded to Queen room, sea facing on the 7th floor. View of centro bodin was superb through picture window. Access and security with lift system was perfect.food in both cafe and restaurant was excellent as was value. Frankly I don’t see why it has 4 star classification when it easily matches previous 5 star restaurants I have used. Though I have regularly gone through Santander I have never stayed for more than a day. I had perceived La Bohia as an expensive hotel and hence dismissed it from mind. I was wrong. Very reasonable!
What an amazing hostel! We loved the staff - super helpful. Great location (opposite the bus station, few steps from airport bus), super clean, cozy relax room with kitchen well equipped. Simple breakfast included (surprise!), with a great coffee. Electric plug, lamp and charger near your bed, only for you. Simply all we needed. Cheerful atmosphere, unique!
It was our last night stay on our vacation, so nice experience. We leave Spain with tears in our eyes, thanks to jamon and this hostel! Thank you, we'll come back soon!
Hotel Chiqui is the most exquisite chic beachside hotel situated on the iconic Sardinero Beach, Santander. We loved our stay here and did not want to leave. Lovely, spacious, clean rooms with perfect sea views, air con, large fridge, big screen tv, coffee/tea making facilities and the most friendly and helpful staff. The staff really do the utmost to look after you. There is also a path behind the hotel leading to the most heavenly secluded bays that I’ve ever had the pleasure to swim in. We cannot wait to return!
At a first glance, when we arrived outside the hotel, we weren't impressed with what the building looked like. However, when we got into the room, we were pleasantly surprised to see how clean it was and how spacious the bathroom and wardrobes were. The staff at the reception were very friendly and polite and so were the cleaning ladies. Our room was cleaned on a daily basis, even the dishes were washed.
The location is great, 10-15 min walk from the beach and the city centre.
When we arrived, the staff were absolutely wonderful. Telling us exactly where we could park a vehicle .Couldn't do enough for us. before visiting you, we stopped in two big luxury hotels, one of which in barcelona . Their facilities were OK but not what I would classify 5 star or whatever stars they like to call them. Where as your facility was 5 star to me and my partner . Arrive and find slippers and bath robes provided was a nice touch and well appreciate .
This is a lovely hotel near several beaches in the Sardinero neighborhood of Santander. Each room has a theme and ours was Tokyo. It was very comfortable and clean with a modern bathroom. The staff are all very welcoming and gave us good information about restaurants and transportation. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had with so many choices of fresh foods. We liked being in a quiet neighborhood, yet close to some lovely beaches and many restaurants.
Love the little thoughtful details, truly local products breakfast at the room, candies , drinks ..every detail was thoroughly thought of. I have been in many hotels in Spain, also with international scope and this is certainly the one where I most felt spoiled and that I cared as a guest. Right from the warm welcome including a drink. Room was new, neat , comfortable.. everything felt good!
Our room was clean, comfortable, and well decorated. The bathroom was large and roomy with a walk-in shower. The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpfully guided us on things to do and see in Santander. The hotel's location was excellent with beaches, bars and restaurants practically on the door-step. The Sandiero beaches were delightful. Thoroughly recommend staying at this hotel.
The Hotel is very well located, right next to a very good beach. Parking was easy, although public zone it was free in some areas. The size of the room was adequate, and we had an excellent view. Beds confortable, WC also ok. Did not tried the breakfast, but seemed normal. The swiming pool although not large, seems almosta a «piece of art», the official pictures are correct !
The outside of the hotel building was very imposing . There was parking outside the hotel whilst you check in and then pre arranged safe onsite parking costing 17€ per night.
We had a room with a sea view which is a must as the hotel overlooks the beautiful beach of Santander. The staff at reception are very friendly and helpful. Rooms well designed and appointed .
Hotel is in a great location close to restaurants and great transport.
Airport is 15 minutes away
Short bus ride to the beach
The hotel had a lovely view of the city really great.
Hotel was lovely and clean the hotel had a lovely aroma
Room was great and the shower was very powerful like you would have at home.
Motorcycle friendly hotel with secure off street parking near the beach at Santander. Excellent staff allowed an early check in and gave great advice re where to go and what to do. Comfortable well appointed room with balcony and beach views. Lovely restaurant with a surprising good set menu for diner.
The room was clean and at a good price for Santander. The hotel was very well located - 5 min to the train station and city center, 3 min to the bus station to Sardinero Beach. The staff gave us helpful indications. We had a really nice time in Santander.
The Hotel was lovely. our daughter lives in Santander and we plan to visit again. we found the hotel to be centrally located and very clean it was convenient to shops and restarurants. The staff were very friendly.
The hotel was very central, right opposite the beach. Really impressed with Santander - very smart and well kept. Free parking outside. The breakfast was excellent and we wished we had an extra night there!
