It's a cultural paradise. Many people come only for 1 day and it's definitely not long enough. We stayed 3 nights and visited during 4 days before going back to Madrid we could have stayed 1 or 2 days more. But we are serious art lovers. The city, the cathedral, alcazar, all the monasteries and churches, sinagogs are fantastic. There is also a Turkish bath with 3 pools to relax. Strongly recommend if you love El Greco, Tizian....

The city is a well known tourist location, so we expected some crowds even if it is early in the season. What we did not expect when planning was temperatures of over 43 C (100+F), incredible crowds everywhere and a LOT of traffic during all but the siesta times. This made for a really miserable walking experience - tho roads are incredibly narrow so you have to stand along the wall for cars to pass in many places. After 9 am, tours and tour groups would take over all the spaces - loud guides, impossible to get around them, etc. I am not a big fan of tour groups and prefer to explore things at my pace and independently. Honestly, in Toledo, that was a miserable choice. It would have been better to just join a tour group, get it over with and move on. Or, just get a nice video and see the place from thee comfort of my home.

Toledo is a beautiful walled city one hour south of Madrid. It's compact in size, and mostly has pedestrian streets, so it's easy to walk. There are lovely parks, Museo del Greco, great church & some wonderful restaurants that we found in this gem of a city! We will be back... it's a diamond in the rough...

One of the most beautiful cities in Spain. The people are friendly, open and helpful. They love where they live!!! There is sufficient public transportation and taxi service to access the old city along with the two locations of escalators to transport pedestrians from the lower levels outside of the old city to the top level where you enter the town center.

Toledo is a city for history and architecture enthusiasts who like walking a lot. It is very hilly which might be a problem for some. The main cathedral is simply stunning and cannot fail to impress. Audio guides are a must to really appreciate what you see. They cost only a few euros but require a returnable 50 euro deposit. The Military Museum is huge and has lots of exhibits that are not military so don't be put off if you military history is not your thing.

Toledo is a well preserved Medieval city of great beauty. There is great art, this was the home of El Greco; there is history, especially Medieval and Renaissance history. A fascinating story of Jewish, Muslim and Christian heritage. It is easy to walk round the city and see all of the sites and there are many good bars, shops and restaurants.

You can eat your iwn food there as well.The hotel is 5 minutes away on foot from Zodocover Plaza, the entrance of the Old Town of Toledo & a 15 minute walk from the railway station.

We used the secure private parking which was good value at 10€ per night. Hotel was easy to find and in a great location for walking into the old town.
