Typically French - and utterly charming. Set in the heart of the champagne region, this beautiful home stay was once available to nuns who established a school, daycare and dispensary there. The host was clearly very proud of the dwelling, and keen to expectation its history to us.
We were able to park in the inner courtyard. And everything in the town was within walking distance.
The ‘History Of Champagne’ tour & tasting was incredibly interesting and well worth a visit.
Luxurious accommodation to match a champagne getaway. Appreciated the attention to detail in everything from fluffy towels to snacks & a cheeky bottle of champagne. Felt absolutely pampered.
We stayed here en route to Beaune and I am SO glad we chose here as we had a brilliant time and it felt a more authentic experience. There are 3 rooms upstairs Autumn (our room), Summer and Winter and Nathalie has just finished a beautiful room, Spring, on the ground floor which has doors to the outside. This would be fabulous for an anniversary or honeymoon as it is stunning. Our room was lovely, everything you need, very clean and everything felt new. Comfy bed. What makes this place even more special is the food! Dennis is an excellent cook and I highly recommend you book the meal in advance. Nathalie shops for local, fresh, seasonal ingredients and Dennis cooks a 4 course meal - starter, main, cheese and dessert. There was champagne to start and then white wine with the starter, red with the main and a claret with the cheese! It was 40 euro each and honestly better than any restaurant meal we had! What made it more fun was that we had the champagne before the meal and Nathalie and Dennis joined us and we had a lovely conversation. I speak very little French but understand it, my husband is quite good. Dennis speaks some English and Nathalie has good English so between us all it was a fun time. The weather was rainy but in good weather they have a beautiful garden to sit in outside. I wish we had stayed longer! I highly recommend and want to go again :)
It was very quiet and good for walking my dog. We had to go to Epernay for dinner when we wanted to dine out because most of restaurants and other things were closed in Athis due to the end of year. We would like to visit there in spring or summer next time.

There is a great restaurant 3km away called La Table du 18 -- it's a really good example of a modern French establishment.
The owner Olivier used to work in the Champagne and wine growing industry, so is very knowledgeable about wine. I could've talked to him all day.
The village is relatively remote, so a car or cycle is imperative.
Had we stayed another evening, I would've ordered a pizza from a local van -- signposted on the main road. French pizza vans make excellent pizza.

Very quiet location, small village and lovely to wander around the quiet streets and houses with nicely kept gardens.
Perfect base for exploring the Champagne region.
No facilities within the village other than a boulangerie which is closed on a Monday morning.
Nearest supermarket for a self catering stay is apparently 3km away.
Easy to find from the motorway.
