A real-life town in an attractive part of (semi-rural) France, benefitting from a good range of shops, a (small) market, a significant variety of restaurants and cafes (to suit all tastes and budgets), friendly people - just a very nice place to visit.
Hopped on the bus to Senlis, the old walled town, and lunched there. Well worth the visit and the bus ride (but check the timetable and the bus stops carefully.....better, ask!!)
Bearing in mind that our trip was in late-January (when most attractions were partly or fully closed), we still managed to enjoy ourselves thoroughly.

You'd need at least a few days to see everything and to rest and enjoy the area. There are no taxis from the train station, and finding an Uber was not easy, take that into account. Getting around is better by car or bike, walking is quite long. The castle was nice and so was the horse museum. Do not miss the Pavillon de Manse - kids loved it!

We loved the area, very natural with the most amazing chateaux right in the middle. We took a day in Paris, and the train journey was about 25 minutes. (saved all the fuss of driving in and then finding a car park.) Plenty of places tpo eat.
The drive from Calais was stress free all the way.
We will definately go back.

Charming, sophisticated town to explore the chateau and indulge in the posh patisseries. Limited budget food choices in restaurants if you are avoiding meat as more emphasis on beef and pork. Good range of supermarkets if you are self-catering with lovely produce to buy

Superb cafes and restaurants.
Superb cafes and restaurants. The chateau was incredible, huge french art collection stunning views and grounds. Quiet in second week in September.
Easy to walk and drive around the area.
Le Sylvia for a relaxed lunch, excellent food reasonable prices.Superb service
Le Vertugadin for very fine food and gorgeous terrace, garden setting with shady seating areas. Had lunch and dinner here could not fault!
La Belle Epoque for drinks and dinner, sharing boards.Lovely friendly atmosphere, great value.
The Kyriad is an honestly basic hotel and it performs that role very well indeed. The staff were welcoming and friendly. My room was spotlessly clean and looked after well each day I was there. The hotel is on the way out of Chantilly, but it was a short and pleasant walk to all the attractions (the chateau and park; the Musee Conde; etc.). There is a large Carrefour supermarket across the road and an excellent food store right next to the hotel. Best of all for me, it was totally quiet at night.
We used to visit the original motel style out of town Campaniles with our children when driving through France on route to a holiday destination. This was well over 20 years ago. This time we were on our own and this was one of the original Campaniles. We enjoyed our stay and the staff were great- yes the place needs a bit of work to bring it up to scratch and it might not be worth it but we were expecting that. The stay brought back great memories for us.
The ladies working the restaurant had to do all the work. They were great. Just not clean, not appropriate to rent. They can do better. It wasn't the size, but the lack of cleaness and decent bed. Come on, a single good bed can't be that expensive. I won't stay in a hotel connected with a restaurant again as the follow-through isn't there. Thanks to the ladies for helping with the 4 flight of ricketty stairs and baggage.
Thoughtful design. Fresh decor. Amazing use of space to provide every thing you need, but not crowded. Kitchen was appreciated, after so many restaurants, we needed a down night -- made homemade vegetable soup and watched TV..
Location very convenient to the chateau grounds. Neighborhood peaceful and private.
Loved the convenience of free parking nearby in a safe environment.
Its a great location if you are looking for somewhere rural and away from the congested cities/towns, lots of green spaces and scenery. The hotel itself is a great space, breakfast was tasty and a good selection of food with decent coffee. Tennis court and swimming pool with sun terrace were a welcome addition to the trip.
Vincent, our host, was extremely kind, genuine and helpful. The place itself was huge, lovely and homely. Beautiful gardens, tennis court and friendly dogs and cat (snuggliest cat we’ve met). It’s a wonderfully quiet space with all the amenities you could desire. Perfect place to stay to explore the charms of Chantilly.
We had a very good stay in this apartment. The apartment is located in the centre of Chantilly in an old building and is very charming. The beds are very good. The host is good to reach. There were some minor things that might need fixing in the apartment, but nothing with an impact on our stay.
Great location, plenty of room for two people. Many commenters mentioned that accessing the apartment was a little "sketchy" so we were prepared, it wasn't like that at all...this is an older building in the center of Chantilly. It was perfectly fine, old stairs which add to charm.
We had our coffee and croisant at the cafe next door, but the dinner at the hotel restaurant was excellent! The hotel is located in the center within a walking distance to the Chateau and the park. We were allowed to park our car free in the yard for the night.
A potentially beautiful destination hotel.
This is a beautiful hotel with great facilities set in a stunning location but it is isolated if you do not have a vehicle. Lovely pool and sauna etc a variety of dining venues.
the staff at the desk was very helpful with local sites to see because the main reason we went to Chantilly was to see the chateau but turned out it was closed on the day we were there.
Everything was excellent, from the kindness of the reception lady, to the hotel location, the cleanliness and space of the room and the plug for electrical cars in the parking!
An oasis from travel with amazing restarts nearby. The Chateau Chantilly was amazing, if you come here, your must have a desert with the famous Chantilly cream--- OMG!!
