The proprietor and his wife were very friendly and helpful about places to eat for dinner (although they don't speak much English we speak a bit of French) - we ate at a popular pizza place down the road cos they had vegetarian options - and the breakfast in the hotel was excellent. The location, in the Sologne, not far from the Loire, is good for central France if you want to stay rural and there are pleasant local walks through woodlands and by lakes.

Charming vegetable garden on the grounds, from which come many of the foods they serve in the restaurant. The pool is a gem. And the family that runs the hotel couldn't be nicer.
