Outside and high above the busy Clermont-Ferrand on a good bus route it offers a peaceful base for a city visit and for exploring the volcanoes of this area. As our apartment was self catering we bought excellent food in Clermont-Ferrand’s covered market. We found local people friendly and helpful. Asking advice on direction a woman walked along with us to direct us to the cathedral and a stall holder in the market ran after us to point us in the right direction to visit the church of Notre Dame du Port - superbly renovated and well worth a visit.
