The museum telling the story of French civilians during WWII - very moving. You could buy an English handheld that gave you all the information although the exhibits were in both French and English. William The Conqueror Castle - again an excellent exhibition in both French and English. A lovely town, we enjoyed walking around and reading about the WWII history of the town. We had a nice dinner at one of the many restaurants and visited Château de Falaise (William the Conquerer's castle). This castle has one of the very best tour experiences we've had. We went early and beat the busloads of tourists that arrived as we were leaving, so we almost had the place to ourselves for our self-guided tour. It was a quick overnight stop for us, but one we're very glad that we made!

A fantastic castle, where William the Conqueror was born and raised. There was a great deal of World War 2nd history. The old part of the city was very interesting. We were only there for an afternoon and evening, but what we saw, made us want to return.

This town was almost completely destroyed during the allied attack from Normandy beaches but a few buildings remain. William the Conquerors castle is worth a visit as are the two large churches and museum dedicated to world war 2. Be prepared to be disappointed at the anti British sentiment on the posters in the church beside William’s castle commenting on the liberation of the town and its consequential destruction.

We received a warm and friendly welcome from the owners, who clearly love sharing their beautiful home with visitors to this historic town. Our thoughtfully decorated room was exceptionally clean and comfortable and we enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep.
