It felt like a home away from home. We had everything we needed, from cooking utensils to cleaning supplies, to make the stay as comfortable as possible. It was great to be able to bring our dogs along with us. The host was so welcoming and friendly and very responsive via messages. The use of a contactless key box meant we had flexibility in arrival and departure times, which was great. Overall we has a lovely stay, as did the dogs, who enjoyed the nearby beach and walking trails greatly.

Spent a couple of days here with our son to visit Mont St Michel. Perfect location, close to a big empty beach with a magnificent view of the abbey. Wonderful staff, great atmosphere, clean rooms and communal areas and every utensil you need to prepare a quick meal.
Housed in a historical building, this hotel is ideally located in the heart of Mont Saint-Michel. The classic-style rooms overlook the bay, the abbey or the medieval city.

The room was great and the bathroom looked like it had just been updated and renovated. Breakfast was very good and there were many options of breakfast food. Coffee was excellent. Location for breakfast was tricky to find as it La Mere Poulard was under going some renovations and we had another hotel for check-in. We found it! It was just beyond the drawbridge entrance. Like all the buildings on the island the hotel is a very old building, very tightly fitted into the surrounding buildings, which added to its charm. There is a steep path and a medieval staircase leading up to the hotel, which may be inconvenient for some visitors. An overnight stay on the island, however, allows you to enjoy the peace and magic of the place, which is not possible during the day when the tourist traffic is really heavy. Despite the high humidity on the island, and the obvious consequences of living in medieval building, the rooms were dry, warm, clean and adequately equipped.
Breakfast was very tasty, with a good selection of produce.
Once a coaching inn, Hôtel de La Croix d'Or is now a charming hotel-restaurant located in the centre of Avranches, just 20 minutes from the famous Mont Saint Michel.
