Lots of people regard Grenoble as a transit point - en route to other places such as ski-resorts. To me the town had an industrial feel to it as a result. It was very clean, no graffiti to speak of, and had some lovely free green spaces to sit in the park. Sadly the weather was not good enough when I was there - but I walked through them!

We personally found it unwelcoming and horrible.
We personally found it unwelcoming and horrible. We found that people were nasty to us as soon as we said we couldn’t speak much French. We also ended up eating in our hotel room every night because how the locals would treat us. Wasn’t a good trip for us personally. If you speak a good amount of French then I’m sure you’d enjoy this trip.

Where are the street lights?
Where are the street lights?
Walking back to the hotel around 9 p.m. after dinner was a bit hazardous. So many people on scooters whizzing past at speed, many dresssed in black, no lights on the vehicle and no lights to see them coming.
Where were the hot springs. Closed at the weekend

Great base to explore the local nature hikes in warmer months. If you plan ahead several of these are accessible by public transport. Also, if you like art (even a little bit) the Musee de Grenoble's permanent collection is amazing and free to visit.

Disapointing experience due to the city environment, streets are globaly dirty, walls full of grafitis and many shops are damaged (after recent riots). Even some caves of the Bastille are covered with grafs! The city seems to be abandoned and really unsafe, what a pity when you look at the moutains all around and the potential of this location 😞

We only had an overnight stay.
We only had an overnight stay. Was concerned by the amount of shop windows in the town that appeared to have been smashed and were either boarding up and left. Felt slightly uneasy walking around in the evening.
This is a medium range category hotel with basic services. That means that you wouldn't get soap (you have to use the dispenser in the shower), no hairdryer, or kettle for coffee and the breakfast is quite basic. However, it is a nice clean hotel with very friendly staff. It is outside the busy centre very quite and you can get to the centre using the tram. Station outside the hotel. Finally the wifi is very good. Quick and we could connect all our devices, smartphones and tablets. This is excellent.
We rented a car, traveled France from Paris to the Atlantic coast, to the Mediterranean coast, and back. Fantastic DIY trip. The backroads, communities, stunningly beautiful. The tourist sites we visited, great. Truly welcoming hotels (including a couple of smaller places with no elevator) appreciative of guests. This was a fantastic 20-day visit to France. Recommended to all, Just not Hotel d'Angleterre in Grenoble.
I absolutely loved the warm welcome that I received on the arrival. The girl on reception was so warm, helpful and welcoming. The staff are absolutely excellent here and helpful with questions. The apartment itself is just top and so well worth the price. The place itself is city centre and close to everything. I even cancelled another hotel and decided to extend my stay here. What a wonderful little gem
The location was perfect! Our room had a balcony where we sat every evening and drank wine. The hotel is within walking distance of all the shops, restaurants, and the trolley.
Most importantly, the front desk staff were friendly, very helpful and speak multiple languages!
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to go to Grenoble and will stay again myself.
The capsule-like beds in a multiperson dormitory are a really great idea, as it ensures privacy! The capsules are well thought out - with USB, plug, shelves, and even a rod for hanging up a wet towel. The staff is friendly. The location is excellent for travellers needing early wakeup and getting to the station (gare :)), as it is located at the centre of the city.
A decent hotel at the centre of Grenoble, from where you can pretty much access everything on foot. The room was spacious and clean and also included a kitchenette. The staff was polite and friendly. The hotel also has a closed parking area where you can park your car for 12,5€ per day, which is very reasonable.
Hotel and Room are in Centre of town and ina lively location. Could manage to see activities from the room, for the first timers to grenoble. The Young students shouting, and enjoying their life was wonderful to watch, and feel like we are 20-30 years younger. Strongly recommended Hotel and location.
The staff, in general, was super friendly. Breakfast was very nicely prepared, with a lot of choice. The breakfast staff was very attentive. The room was clean, and everything worked. The double windows made the room very quiet. We will stay here again when we are back to Grenoble.
I really liked the hotel's decor with the concept of sustainability. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom has what is needed. The breakfast is pretty good. The location is very convenient, near the central gare of grenoble
This hotel is like a chic hostel, in the quiet but central part of Grenoble - best value for money in the city! Lots of cute attention to detail touches that were really appreciated ! Also my two small dogs can stay for free ❤️
This was a lovely little base for 2 nights while exploring Grenoble. It's wonderfully situated in the centre of many interesting places to visit.
It feels private and peaceful, and great for a solo traveller.
This hotel was in a great location, just 10 minutes walk from Place Victor Hugo and less to the nearest tram stop. The room itself was ok and I appreciated the small Nespresso machine in the room.
Nice staff and reactive when I asked if I lost sth in the room after check out.
Bed is big and you have individual air conditioning.
Have free tea and coffee.
Nice atmosphere in the hotel.
Perfect location and very nice (and fun) staff! Very very good value for money. The building is very unique, and right in the centre. We got a discount for the parking as well.
