This hotel has been recently taken over and a new restaurant has been opened. There were 5 of us in our group and we decided to try the restaurant. The dinner was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. I could not fault it. We also opted for the continental breakfast. this was more than adequate and very reasonable for a cost of €6. Jeremy was very attentive to our needs and early start as we were starting our Camino. I can recomment this hotel as a place to stay before begining the camino Frances.

It was a very pretty village/ Town in the mountains. Suitable for walkers with lovely cafe's and restaurants and useful supply base before starting the camino. Local people were very friendly and quirky as well. It is full of character and history.

SJPDP is the traditional starting point for el Camino de Santiago's French route. You can feel all the positive energy and excitement from the Peregrinos at portas of their journey. Although the first stage from SJPDP, crossing the Pyrenees to Spain, is challenging the journey and the satisfaction of completing it is multiple times more rewarding and will remain as a memorable experience! We went to St Jean because it is the starting point of the French Camino. It is a charming place, lots of good places to stay and eat - though the prices in a cafe we stopped at are a lot higher than in nearby Spain! 5 Euros for a glass of wine compared with 1.5 Euros in Spain!

Beautiful town at the start of the Camino frances. Not good for dairy and gluten allergy though and not every restaurant and bar proprietor is friendly. Hardly anything provided in any language other than french. Looking forward to crossing into Spain.KatarinaFinland

The owner and team gave everyone a wonderful home cooked 3-course dinner for 10Eu on the terrace. They explained the next day walk to Roncesvalle via Orison & what to expect. Also they talked about the positive personal & spiritual benefits the experience can be for pilgrims. After breakfast we had an amazing ‘circle’ in the lobby to wish everyone well before setting off

There is a nice sitting area and you can prepare a hot drink. A very inviting place. We enjoyed it very much.

The hosts, Pascal and Joe, were friendly and helpful, the Gite was very clean and well equipped. I loved the privacy curtains around our beds, although they can block air movement on a warm night.
