There are plentiful shops, restuarants, pharmacies, bakers,...
There are plentiful shops, restuarants, pharmacies, bakers, banking, grocery and clothing options. The metro stops in Saint Mande- M1 train. I recommend La Fraternite restuarant. Also La Tourvelle is excellent. The area brasseries are all quite nice. The Balmer Boulangerie (bakery) is excellent as is B Bakery. The fruit and juice stand across from the Balmer and near hotel Le Ruisseau is excellent (fresh squeezed smoothies 5 euros? Le Ruisseau is an exccelent choice for lodging.

They do whatever they can to make you satisfied. I booked a family room, and all the family rooms in the hotel are in the ground floor, and since I don't like ground floor accommodation, I asked to change the room, and it was a surprise that they changed the family room with two double rooms with no extra charge! Terrific breakfast is offered daily. The area around the hotel is pure French, open markets and little cafés.
