We found Vannes charming, even in winter. The medieval buildings are impressive and beautifully kept but fortunately the town is not over-run by tourism and retains a sense of its own identity. Its proximity to sites like Carnac is a big plus.

The best part of Vannes is the Golfe of Morbihan.
The best part of Vannes is the Golfe of Morbihan. We rented bikes (easy) at the dock and had a wonderful time on Ile-d-Arz. The ferries come/go frequently. The town center of Vannes has lovely places near the ramparts. The city itself is very busy with plenty of traffic.

Fantastic town with a nice vibe, good bars, restaurants and around every corner in Vannes was a super building or view, very impressed, also found the restaurants hidden down the side streets had really good food and a lot cheaper than the ones on the main routes .
We would avoid the hotel we stopped in as it was a good 20 minute walk away from the edge of the town through a couple of quite scary at night subways, no bus service into the town from the Kyriad Prestige Vannes of which we guess was rather more suited to the business community rather than tourist.
It also did not state that it was only 20 yards from a busy inter city rail line on one side and a very noisy road junction on the opposite side , although the room basic without a room safe, fridge or tea making resource the bed was comfortable and the bathroom excellent.
The hotel was also very clean, its only big bonus was large free car park

Beautiful historic old town. Easy to walk around.
Beautiful historic old town. Easy to walk around. Excellent shopping and choice of restaurants. Great place to explore the Gulf of Morbidan and peninsula. Loved the port area with all the moored boats.
Fabulous stay in Vannes. Very spacious quiet flat with excellent quality decoration fittings and everything we needed. Not a long walk into Vannes and very handy bus stop nearby although that bus route stops in the evening so had to walk back and was diverted for the jazz festival so best to check timetable. Also handy to visit other things outside Vannes - most of the city pass dantastic activities were only within 20 to 30 mins drive. Suscinio castle, branfere zoo and celt adventures parc were fantastic!
First, the hotel’s location is next to the city wall in a superb location. A few blocks away are the manicured Rampart Gardens. Strolling the cobblestone streets is very pleasant. The friendly staff helped find us dinner reservations, and recommended places to visit. Impeccably clean! 10 minute walk to the train station. The first morning we were so tired we slept through breakfast. Not to worry, we were able to eat anyway. Very cost effective!
The facilities are superb. But the staff was exceptional. The best we've experienced! When we had to depart before breakfast they prepared a delicious take-away breakfast. The restaurant is also truly exceptional. The cooking was original and truly outstanding. This was the best hotel and dining experience I've had in many years. A must stay for anyone visiting Brittany!
Very comfortable hotel across the road from the train station with a really good breakfast included. Free coffees and croissants available at the lobby area during the day. About a 10-15 minute walk to the lovely town centre which is really worth a visit. Nice room and very helpful friendly staff.
A mi-chemin is very well located in a nice residential area. It is close to the marina with plenty of space to walk the dog. It is not far from the old town of Vannes and nice places to eat. It has a lovely little outside space and the kitchen is well equipped.
Apartment was confortable, spacious and clean. The kitchen was very well equipped and true to pictures. Bedroom was confortable. The location was excellent for accessing the port and old city by foot.
Easy to park and a very pleasant half hour walk, mostly on footpaths and small roads, to Vannes centre.
Very good breakfast with unexpected touches like local honey and high quality cheeses.
Very clean and comfortable. Great location, just a 5 minute walk to the marina and old Vannes.
Very well equipped with excellent Wifi.
Loved the private off road parking space
The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was good. The hotel is just a short walk down to the centre of Vannes. The parking under the hotel is good and accessed by a lift.
This cheerful spot was a great base to explore beautiful Vannes. It had everything we needed and the hostess gave excellent suggestions and communication was clear.
The perfect setting for a hotel. Right by the beach and bay. Only a short five minute drive to beautiful Vannes, such an amazing historical and cultural town.
