If you enjoy walking - either on streets or coastal paths - Aberystwyth is a good place to do so. We walked from the hotel to the Cliff railway and back on a couple of occasions - but using different routes each time. If you are interested in other things, we didn't visit many locations in the town (it was a stop-over on our way home) but I understand there are a number of attractions - including the Vale of Rheidol Railway which runs trains the 14+ miles to Devil's Bridge.
A few miles north of the town is the very interesting Dyfi Osprey Centre with a brilliant set of volunteers and - at this time of the year - good views of the breeding pair of ospreys from the centre's observation platform 200m away from the nest.

A great museum, really interesting and a bit different from what you might expect. Plenty of choice for restaurants, etc. The funicular railway is amazing and good value. The scenery from the top of the hill is amazing. There is not much left of the old fort but it well worth going beyond it to the harbour. And all the people we met were very friendly towards tourist.

I have lived in Aber as a student and know some very nice people in the local businesses.
There is a good Police presence. They drive around.
It is generally a good mixed town for students and Welsh longstanding residents who are generally welcoming of tourists.
Lovely indie shops.
Cheaper beer and food than SE England and other airport places.
A good proportion of overseas residents.
Busy builders everywhere and it is looking up.
Lots of heritage to see including King Charles' old university which is being renovated.

Generally clean and safe environment (only visited during day time), plenty of character and amenities. One main downside; very poor parking availability, & very limited parking signage. Most roadside parking, when available, limited to only one hour.
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms with all you need for a relaxing stay..Fourth occasion that I have stayed here when visiting our Grandson at university.Perfect base with parking on site and close enough to town without being a route March.
The hotel always looks well maintained and decorated - proof being the chap who constantly works his way around it in the the manner of " Painting the Forth bridge " Thoroughly reccomend.
The hotel is in the heart of Aberystwyth so once you manage to park ( and we were lucky enough to secure a space in the small car park at the rear) you can walk anywhere. The staff were really welcoming and friendly and keen to help. We ate in the bistro and food was excellent and good value as was breakfast. Free bottled water machine available to guests.
Excellent food for breakfast with plenty of choice. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of space. Location is good as journey to Aberystwyth town centre is only 10-15 minutes, but you have the usual problem with parking. The payment in the car park (bowling green/tennis courts) is by card only which takes a little time to get used to.
The location was superb!!! Right on the beach front and nice boulevard! Just a 5min walk from the Cliff Railway with its breathtaking views! Staff was very friendly, room and facilities were good. Had a good night's rest! Breakfast was also good, enough to chose from! I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Aberystwyth!
The location and facilities are great. The rooms are immaculate and filled with nicety’s. The “help yourself kitchen” is a bonus. I have spent numerous nights here and because of this hotel, Aberystwyth is at the top of my list of places to visit with my family over the coming months.
spacious very comfortable, clean room; supported by excellent breakfast. Although no restaurant for evening meals, hotel provides list of food delivery services from Aberystwyth and provides plates and cutlery for eating in bedroom.
Great hosts, peaceful rural location but easy to access to Aberystwyth, Aberaeron and Newquay. Great breakfast, extremely dog friendly, comfy bed and huge bathroom (Aberaeron room) with claw foot tub and separate shower.
Perfect stay. The host was very attentive. The check in instructions were clear. Very clean cabin and had all the necessary needs. Just a short drive away from Aberystwyth. A beautiful place to see the sun set.
It was lovely to stay in a period property in Aberystwyth, it was a little more than we had hoped to spend for a night before graduation, however the property was very central, with parking an a special treat.
The location is great, right at the promenade a room with sea view. Just nice to sit in the room and enjoy the view. The hotel has a great a atmosphere. Breakfast was cooked to order and very good.
Good location and absolutely perfect for us. We were in Aberystwyth to meet friends so we only needed the hotel for sleeping. The room was well equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable.
The location is great in Central Aberystwyth. Perfectly located for shops, bars and restaurants and a short walk from the seafront.
Hotel was clean and the staff were helpful.
Beautiful apartment, great location. Quirky decor, everything we needed for our stay. Easy parking on the front with fantastic views of the sea. Restaurants right next door.
a great location in Aberystwyth, a short walk from the shops and seafront. a good car park and ease of use to get into the hotel once checked in via keycard.
