Great friendly pub in a nice village offering good food and accommodation within easy reach of places to visit . The staff and host's made you feel very welcome and you could tell they enjoyed what they were doing .My partner and I came across this pub when we were looking for houses in the area and called in for a drink .We did not manage to find a house but found a little gem of a pub to spend three relaxing days in .

Elegant peaceful country house with stylish nature theme in bedrooms . Welcoming hosts, comfortable beds, good breakfast with local produce and home made preserves. Lovely gardens where guests can sit if they wish. Well off main road so very quiet. Local pubs within a few miles and close to RNAS Yeovilton.
We don't go to Somerset that often but about every third year we make a beeline for Babcary. This was our third visit to the Red Lion and it still really appeals - a charming village pub, good reasonably priced food and an annexe with large, luxurious bedrooms. My wife has mobility issues and can cope with the ground floor bedroom and the layout of the pub, restaurant and breakfast room. It was our Silver Wedding Anniversary and the staff went out of the way to make it a special occasion for us. Really excellent. Highly recommended.
We were in Babcary for a wedding, and unfortunately the taxi we booked to get to the ceremony in the morning did not show up. Hugo from the Red Lion (very generously) gave us a lift instead - we were totally blown away by the generosity, and we most likely would have missed the wedding otherwise! Thank you so much to everyone at The Red Lion for going above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely weekend <3
Fabulous hotel and stay, The staff were incredibly welcoming both at check in and dinner and breakfast service. The food was exceptional and the menu had a good variety. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I also left an item of clothing behind and had to call to see if I could get the item returned the staff were most helpful and agreed to post back as I live over 200miles away.
The kitchen was closed so no facilities for Breakfast and no staff on duty at checkout.
The hotel did give a refund on the room rate as a consequence but had to drive 8 miles to find a cafe for breakfast.
