Excellent location for visiting Loch Lomond. Accommodation was clean and had everything we needed for a short stay. We ate in the pub restaurant in the evening... lovely staff and enjoyed our meals. Would recommend.

We tagged on a 2-night stay to a work trip and wanted a base to explore Loch Lomond. Great location a short walk from Balloch. Home-cooked breakfast delivered to our door each morning, so we could eat in our pyjamas, was a great start to the day! Bed was super comfy and the kitchenette was well stocked with everything we needed to fend for ourselves.

Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We were struggling to find our way to our accommodation with our backpacks after a 9-mile walk and called our host. He didn't hesitate to reassure us that he would pick us up and get us settled in and we were so grateful! The made-to-order breakfast was absolutely wonderful. In the morning we needed to get to our next starting point and our host offered to drop us there. Our hosts were definitely exceptional!

Beautiful scenery on the walks to Loch Lomond shores, if you can get on the boat tour then I would definitely recommend, so tranquil. The Tullie Inn is directly next to the train station and across the road is the boat trips booking office. We’ve stayed here a few times. We have stayed there before. Like where it sits on the Loch. Easy access to parking. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Food good and great variety. The only downside is there is no sitting area away from the restaurant at night. Could do with a little bar to have a quiet drink before going to bed. Didn't spend a huge amount of time in Balloch bit did a Loch Cruise with Sweeneys which was very pleasant. Also took a walk through the Castle Park and saw a Red Squirrel there, park is beautiful too which also has a walled garden. Apart from the House of Fraser shopping centre there was not much else. Ideal for walking an=round the area but the town itself is in need of investment as it was pretty shabby, poor example of the gateway to Loch Lomond

Visitor information was very accommodating, good food. Train, buses good service. Resturant, Mavi, Princess Rose, Tullies so far Good food and hosts. Loved the train and bus drivers helpful too. Corner store by train very accommodating, can get sim card for your phone and some groceries, small deli, people use a lot, friendly owners/workers xx Shopping mall too/like. With things children can ride and ply on. Buses to go from Balloch area, walked a lot from Bruach Lodge, thru a park with picnic tables with fire pits to cook otherside is view of the Loch. Stop off to eat in Duck Bay/Hotel, good food in restaurant, pleasant service and coffee shop with eats. Still discovering xx Small pharmacy, gift shop too Need more shopsAAnonymous - 10Scored 10

Very nice area, we ate and drank in a couple of the bars/restaurant in the area but by far the best was 'the dog house' and 'Mavi' where we we greeted like locals and had a good afternoon drinking, before continuing into the Mavi for drinks and Scottish Folk night which was excellent. The staff, owners, and customers alike were all very friendly. I wish it was easier for us to go back!Myers

Fantastic breakfast menu you can choose from the evening before. Even better the taste and quantity of served meals we were not able to finish. We had a very short but the better stay at Gowanlea Guest House I would recommend to anybody. If coming back to Balloch and surroundings, definitely going to stay at Gowanlea again.Tomas MSlovakia

Lovely to park outside, there was a table and chairs outside at the front too. Lots of restaurants and shops in Balloch and you can walk to the river and catch a ferry or tour of Loch Lomand, also near to Loch Lomand Shores, worth a visit if you like water sports, adventure playground for children, Sea Life and a few shops.
