Room was great and quirky to say the least but very nice, bathroom was ok but not on the same level as the room itself.
Food was great and breakfast was plentiful.

The room was lovely, the bed really comfy and we had everything we needed (plus some lovely extra treats from Amie).
Breakfast was exactly right - all the usual choices but my favourites were the gorgeous porridge and the fruit and granola.
Dinners were great and I am now a big fan of homity pie!
Amie really goes out of her way to make things special and all the staff were super friendly and attentive.

This is a nice little west country town on the estuary of the Taw river, with easy access (by car) to surfing beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe bay, and to Exmoor for hiking.
It's easy to get around the town on foot. Bike rental is available for going farther afield.
There are some excellent restaurants, notably Tiffins (Indian).
There is an amusing museum with local information and artifacts .

Although not itself overly picturesque, it has excellent bus services to many places that are - Westward Ho, Ilfracombe, Bideford, Lynmouth and even Minehead! More should be made of these in publicity, don't assume everyone has a car.

I lead other cyclists on the Devon Coast to Coast cycle Trail , & Barnstaple is near the start or finish depending on whether you are going south or north. I normally go to the Hunters Lodge just south of Barnstaple they are excellent but they were full at the time.

Barnstaple is a charming town with a good range of architecture but particularly after dark the town is full of beggars, drunks, drug addicts giving the town a very unsafe and grubby feel. The Police and Council appear to have given up on improving the social environment and this probably impacts on the town’s tourist industry.

I haven't been to Barnstaple for a few years and was a bit disappointed as most of the old shops had gone you could have been anywhere, it's individuality had gone. If you haven't been before it is a lovely old town and has all the facilities that you could want.

The hotel and the food ere excellent
The staff were friendly helpful polite and very attentive. Breakfast was amazing and dinner was excellent choices. We ate there for our whole stay. Very reasonable prices too. The pool and the gym were greatwe were lucky with the weather so were able tobe outdoors for most of our stay
The hosts were so lovely and welcoming. They let us in the room way before 3pm and we just chilled and had a pint whilst they cleaned it. Great value for money. We ordered the breakfast and they also let my father in law come for the very cheap breakfast (cooked beautifully and again, great value for money) so that saved him a fortune as his hotel breakfast was very pricey. Wonderful fun pub to enjoy and felt well at home. Thanks for a fantastic trip to Barnstaple! Photo of the nearby Valley of the Rocks - well worth a walk there.
Bert was the perfect host, we had a cuppa in our hands within 5 minutes and an offer of some roast dinner too 🥰
The room was perfect as was the location. Literally 10 minutes from the town centre.
It very much felt like a home from home and everything was so chilled and relaxed, exactly what we were looking for during our stay. Much more personable than staying at a branded chain of hotels and very good value for money.
Not only would we highly recommend, we will definitely be coming back later in the year 👍🏻
The hotel was easy to find and I was most impressed with the breakfast bag and the lovely gluten free crumpets and the other items which were gluten free. I did not tell you until I arrived that I was gluten free so it was wonderful to have these
hot crumpets for my breakfast. The room was beautifully clean and the bed very comfortable, I was visiting my sister but
she does not have room for me to stay over night so the hotel was ideal. Many thanks.
Lovely place with beautiful gardens and green fields as far as the eyes can see.
The barn was a nice size plenty of room.
Very big cosy bed with a good thick duvet.
Kitchen was just absolutely incredible. Looks like a cudbored but you open it up and its a full kitchen unit. Very impressive all round
Such a lovely place to stay quiet and peaceful.
Definitely off the beaten track and down a few small lanes.
Thank you so much really enjoy our stay
Quirky secluded stay down a well-kept and very well lit track from the carpark. The instructions were excellent, the key, a torch, etc, all very accessible and the guest's needs really thought about. Wonderful! The cottage is tucked away in beautiful, interesting woodland with the sound of the stream below. Gorgeous location. The accommodation is exceptionally well equipped with everything you need. /the area is lovely too. Highly recommended!
Great location and very efficient friendly staff. We did choose to pay for an upgraded room to enjoy the view of the river Taw and Barnstaple bridge as when I made the original booking I'd forgotten the hotel backs onto a dark street that can be noisy late at night.
Fabulous flower arrangement in reception and a very nice room, in my opinion the best hotel option in Barnstaple itself.
Contemporary and clean the room had a great view of Rock Park. Location is ideal for a walk into town. We had visited and stayed at the hotel 3 years ago and were very happy and now it had been updated so was even better. Barnstaple shops were largely unaffected from closure which is a problem in our area. Dining experience was wonderful and staff were attentive and cheerful.
The features and decor of our room was of a very high standard, the pictures do not do it justice.
Just a short walk from Barnstaple town centre
We were made to feel very welcome.
Good breakfast rounded our stay off - could not fault anything. I will definitely recommend No22 to anyone wanting to stay in the Barnstaple area
Such a quiet and peaceful place to stay. Has everything that you would need. Felt very safe and comfortable and had a really relaxing time whilst I was working in Barnstaple. The host was very helpful and when I had a small issue with an appliance he came to see me and sort it personally, just a lovely touch!
Great location very close to Barnstaple. Lovely views. Very well equipped cottage. The hosts had thought of all the essential needs, including gin glasses. The welcome hamper was appreciated and the fudge was excellent. Highly recommended and would happily stay again.
Excellent service from the staff. It's so refreshing to go to a hotel theses days where everyone knows what they are doing. Great breakfast and good facilities. The hotel did everything that we asked for and we never felt like anything was too much trouble.
The property is spacious (3 bed semi) and was comfortable for the 2 of us. Quiet location and driveway parking. A good base (near Barnstaple) from which to explore the North Devon area
The hotel is conveniently in the centre of Barnstaple with free parking available nearby. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with a great choice available.
The inn's grounds are gorgeous. Take time to wander through the sculpture garden and the common areas of the inn itself. Art everywhere! And the food is outstanding.
We used The Barnstaple Hotel for guests of our wedding held at another location. Each guest enjoyed their stay and commented on how lovely the facilities were
