Queens Head Hotel, hotel in Berwick-Upon-Tweed

Situated in Berwick-Upon-Tweed and within 1.7 km of Spittal Beach, Queens Head Hotel has a bar, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi.

I will never book with booking.com or this hotel ever again. Took the money out of my bank straight away noting mentioned about indtsnt payment. I'd selected one room. But then changed to the larger room as error. Messaged the hotel to be told it was instant chargeable rates. I booked this a year in advance spoke to the hotel who said there would not refund. After several discussion and explained the mistake the hotel would compromise and cancel the smaller room. Bk n forth with calls and conversations I was advised that this had been done and I woukd recieve a refund. The hotel continued to try to take another payment. I contacted them again nothing was discussed about cancelling the room and still showing on my booking as paid for the second room. My relative Got to the hotel who id booked for to be told the room has been cancelled and charged again for the room originally on my booking. Absolutely disgusting so for one room have been charged 3 times now to stay in the room on my booking.

Plenty of choice for accommodation if you plan on staying over & reasonably priced. Lovely historal place with nice cafes & places to eat or drink. Car parking is free both short & long stay. Short stay you need to buy a pass/clock £1 from local shops or maybe included with your accommodation. We stayed Monday to Friday this year & previously Friday to Monday last year. Both places we stayed were comfy, high standard of cleanliness & was very impressed with both. So can recommend both Stow House & Strothers Guest House if you're planning to stay over for few nights. Also beach is not too far away & some lovely walks including the castle walls. If you enjoy fish n chips theres quite few chippies too. We tried Castlegate & really nice. There's also couple that do sit in & dine. There's also Haven caravan park a short walk away from town centre. Regular bus service around town centre & surrounding areas. Was quite quiet possibly being April when we visited this time. The market is on Wednesday & Saturdays which was also quiet but again this could be as its still probably low season.

Not how I remember it but it was forty years since I was there. Covid has shut down a lot of places so a bit of a ghost town but enjoyed walking around the walls which surround the town and reading all the information boards on the way. Crossing the bridge that spans the river tweed was a nice walk too. We had a meal in the amore restaurant which was really nice on our way back too the hotel we discovered a gem of a gift shop called grannies

It’s my home town, I grew up in Berwick and always love returning. The people are friendly, the architecture is great, it’s an ideal centre for walking, with a choice of countryside, sea views or river views. The high street looks a bit tired, but that’s in line with many town centres currently. There are still many independent shops and several restaurants supplying good food at a range of prices.

Centre a bit down on its luck like many towns these days.

Centre a bit down on its luck like many towns these days. But the walks around the old town and the walls are always splendid. Some interesting shops on Bridge Street - books, green produce, kitchen utensils.

The property is immaculate and incredibly tastefully decorated. It really is very special. The process for getting in was easy and there were spare keys inside already. I didn’t use either the washing machine or drier but they could come in handy. Umbrellas already there plus when I arrived I discovered milk in the fridge and a selection of sachets for coffee etc. I visit Berwick regularly - this will be top of my list.

The hotel is in a great location in the town centre. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, there was a slight problem with the room on our arrival but the staff worked it out quickly. The bar and restaurant are very good and the food is great. The lovely shaded beer garden/dinning area at the rear of the hotel is a relaxing place to sit before or after visiting the great and interesting town of Berwick upon Tweed.

We had a lovely time at this cozy friendly hotel, the room was very clean and they had thoughtfully laid out an extra camp bed rather than me sharing a double with one of my daughters. They had left treats for my daughters in the room too. Everyone was so kind at dinner and breakfast and the food was delicious! Highly recommend this lovely place!

Berwick is a nice place with a lot of green spaces and some terrific defences of the old town which are largely intact. Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle are just down the road and there are miles of deserted sandy beaches. Pity it's the North Sea and not the Med... Hotel breakfast was good.
