The staff all were friendly and efficient and ready smiles. They guessed correctly what you wanted and were eager to provide it. All told not much to require for improvement. Food on offer exceeded what I could cope with at my age of 85. Variety excellent.

I would imagine Branscombe would once have been a pleasant...

I would imagine Branscombe would once have been a pleasant little community but now it appears to be a lock up and leave village which is really sad. Like so many other small village dotted around the U.K. there seems to be no sense of community, probably bustling in summer months with holiday makers. There is a lovely walk from the village down to the coast along the river side part way. There are footpaths but some are hidden. A quiet spot for an early spring break but watch the narrow windy single track roads and pray you don’t meet a lorry! There are great coastal paths here for walkers and it’s a nice spot for dog walks. The rooms at the Mason’s inn are impressive and comfortable. The little kitchen area in ours lacked cutlery, wine glasses, tea towels and a kettle. It had two fridges though and a coffee machine where you could get hot water. We really missed our cappuccino in the mornings for breakfast, the coffee provided at breakfast wasn’t great. All in all Branscombe is a nice place for a short stay.

We stayed in Branscombe because it was close to the location we were visiting the next day. It was a lovely village and the beach was only half a mile away. We could've spent at least two or three days there at the hotel.

Comfortable large double bed and large room and bathroom.

Comfortable large double bed and large room and bathroom. But we gave manager a list of "niggles" (e.g. light in bathroom mirror not working) that were not put right during our stay. Decent food though sometimes overcooked. All staff very friendly and helpful including taking suitcases to our room - important when there are so many steps. Only outside space was immediately onto car park.= - no garden or lounge. Although we liked the hotel, overall we felt it was rather overpriced.

    Beautiful village with lovely walks.

Beautiful village with lovely walks. We took the coastal path around the cliffs to Beer, which was challenging in parts, and the cliff top walk back. I’m so glad we did it that way round as the hill back down to Branscombe beach was so steep there was no way I’d have managed to climb it. We walked up the hill to The Fountain Head pub one evening and had a fabulous meal; would definitely recommend a visit as apart from the excellent food, the staff were great too.

Very pretty mostly unspoilt village with blacksmith and 10 minute walk or short drive to the beach. Not good for cars so ideal for walking and photo opportunities abound. Some interesting history around the older buildings

The pub is situated in a very picturesque village. We were greeted by a very friendly man called Jose. He explained to us that due to staff shortages, a cooked breakfast would not be availabe during our 3night stay. Instead, we had a delicious breakfast with cereal, fresh fruit, croissants, toast and jam. All very substantial. There is a beach at Branscombe …half a mile away and a beautiful coastal walk from the church in the village. We also liked looking at the forge where the blacksmith makes lots of items.

Well appointed rooms, warm, cosy, old world charm and elegance with mod cons. The staff were warm and friendly, without the over familiarity. Great location to use as base to explore the surrounding area. Only a 10min (half a mile) to the local beach. Branscombe is a pretty village. Great fish and chips at Masons. Piping hot food. Local lager, Korav, nice tipple.

We couldn't have asked for a nicer stay in Branscombe; the place is in a really beautiful location. The room was extremely comfortable and very nicely decorated. Dinner at the restaurant was absolutely incredible - including the vegan options! The staff were incredibly delightful.

Beautiful location there is not a great deal in branscombe but that is what we were after. An excellent place to unwind. Very friendly owners who very kindly gave us an upgrade. I love the style and setting of the property. The room was so charming and had the most amazing bed.

Branscombe is a beautiful village close to the sea and the Masons Arms is a delightful place which, despite many updates, still retains the feel of a village pub. We enjoyed our evening meals especially the tapas starters and puddings. Breakfast was good.

The location - Branscombe - has been our favorite place to visit for over 25 years, and Smugglers Close was the icing on the cake with it far more than we expected as we had not stayed there previously.
