Owners extremely welcoming on arrival. Really lovely large room with large en suite. Clean and very comfortable. Plenty of tea/coffee in our room but also a coffee machine available downstairs that you can help yourself to - normal cups and takeaway cups available. Breakfast is continental but really excellent with ample to eat. Location is excellent with a few minutes walk into town and a 10/15 minute drive to Saunton golf course.

Very cleaver design and excellent equipment. Kitchen had everything we needed. The upstairs bedroom / sitting room was very comfortable. Good secure space for our bikes overnight with power to charge our batteries. Hosts were very ready to help me fix an issue I had with my bike.
The location close to cycle route 27 was perfect for us.

We just came back from a weekend spent there and I must say everything was amazing. We stayed into a cottage and it was very spacious, with 2 showers. It was just opposite their playground and mini golf. Our girl enjoyed that very much and we did, too. Also, the pool was really nice, the water was warm, they had a jacuzzi and 2 saunas. So had plenty of relaxation as well. We would definitely go back.

Nice middle England type village. Very pleasant with generally friendly people. Dogs welcome almost everywhere!
Great Fish n Chip shop & restaurant (Squires) and several bars and pubs - the George is large & welcoming with a good choice of food.
There's a small Co-op supermarket and various butchers and bakeries. Only one coffee shop, which isn't enough for the number of visitors!
There's a gift shop, one or two cloths shops and a charity shop along with a large ironmongers/garden centre absolutely full of useful items such as camping and BBQ stuff.
The main roads in and out get very busy. There's a reasonably priced car park and medical centre, along with a useful tourist info centre.
Probably the best thing about Braunton is it's very close to the wonderful quaint village of Croyde and the surfer's paradise beach at Croyde Bay!

The SSH is nearer to Croyde and about three miles from Braunton itself which is inland, but the town itself is very pleasant (twinned with Plouescat in Brittany in France) and has some nice shops and two good restaurants. The 21C bus runs once an hour from Barnstaple to Saunton, Croyde and Georgeham via Braunton.

I went there to visit family not for a holiday. It would not be a holiday choice for me insufficient cultural stimulation. It feels like gods waiting room.It has good beaches and attracts surfers. The beach facilities are fairly basic despite being overlooked by a expensive hotel.

V. Good for the overnight stop or for a weekend/long weekend for a couple staying mostly in hotel and nearby beaches. Good for family beach holiday. Not the place if you want nightlife and sophistication.

It is a good centre for further exploration.
It is a good centre for further exploration. Busy main road and cross roads. Good food outlets for all tastes. Good shops if you want to surf or take part in other seaside activities. Parking Ok, but busy in main season.
Steve was a friendly and welcoming host. His thatched cottage is a timeless masterpiece of old England and is maintained at the highest standards possible. There are beautiful walks nearby and a delicious breakfast served at the Quay Cafe just a 1 minute walk away. This is an accommodation experience not to be missed. So much better than a hotel. I visited the nearby seaside town of Combe Martin and have included photos. This has been recognised as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The room is beautifully clean and well equipped with an amazing shower, a private entrance and a parking spot. A kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge and crockery and cutlery mean that you can prepare food and eat in the property if you wish to. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and even a bottle of water and milk were available on arrival. Private and within easy walking distance of Braunton shops pubs and restaurants. Great place to stay if visiting the area.
Attending event at the Museum of British Surfing in Braunton - just few mins walk from Brookfield . Clean, comfortable, Large bathroom - & everything we needed - delicious breakfast & super friendly hosts . Best bonus was to find there is surf heritage connection - original owners here were pioneers of surfing on wood boards in the late 1920s - also related to British PM Gladstone . You can see photos at Brookfield & also the museum.
Wonderfully clean and equipped house for the family to get together (dogs included). Rooms are all lovely in decor and comfortable. Rooftops is in a great location, views to Appledore and walking distance to the shops. We mainly drove to Braunton Burrows & Saunton Sands for the dog walks as the beach is dog friendly all year round. Great location for sightseeing south or north of Braunton.
The property was lovely. It has a tasteful interior, is very comfortable and well equipped. It is on a good location, a short walk to Braunton and a short drive to Saunton Sands and Croyde Bay. Little touches like the games/toys were greatly appreciated by my young children. The garden was decked out.
Absolutely 11/10 stay, evening meal, accommodation and breakfast, value for money totally and lovely owner, Devon is just wonderful and Braunton puts you right in a place where you can visit many other beautiful places with just a short drive. Totally recommend The George :o)
the spectacular location looking southerly over one of the best sandy beaches in north Devon, the comfort of the bedrooms, the quality of the food and service, the availability of car parking and the friendly efficiency of the staff.
The owner (when we met him - assuming that he was the owner) was helpful and friendly. The décor in the hotel part of the pub was very good, and our room and bathroom were well decorated and equipped. Breakfast was very good.
The venue was perfect for me as my neice lives 1 mile away. Very closed to beeches short drive very close to Braunton. Perfect for my stay. Excellent very relaxing perfect for my needs. Good kitchen facilities.
It was spacious, well equipped, beautiful views & the location was totally perfect : walking into Braunton for shopping and very close to Ashbarton Estate, where we were attending a wedding. All ideal!
