Everything at this hotel is fabulous. It’s spotlessly clean and very comfort.
In the Cambridgeshire village of Buckden, this Inn dates back to 1492 and is full of original features. The bar and restaurant have open fires, wooden beams and seasonal food.
Boasting excellent transport links, this contemporary-style 4-star hotel is set on the outskirts of Huntingdon, just minutes away from the A14, linking to the M11 southbound and the A1(M) north.

Most things really; it’s an old Inn/pub and right in centre of town. We weren’t looking for luxury but comfort and proximity to town & Cromwell Museum
The Yard @ Pringle Farm, a property with a terrace, is set in Great Stukeley, 36 km from University of Cambridge, 29 km from Longthorpe Tower, as well as 32 km from Peterborough Cathedral.

Buckden Tower/Palace is a Claretian centre for missionaries...
Buckden Tower/Palace is a Claretian centre for missionaries and anybody is allowed to wander the grounds to look at the Tower where Catherine of Aragon was once held. The palace was used by the Bishops of Lincoln to rest between journeys from London to Lincoln and other notable visitors such as James I, Henry VIII, Catherine Howard and Samuel Pepys amongst others. There is also a garden dedicated to Catherine but sadly the gate was locked on both occasions I went to view it. I think a tour of the tower is possible if arranged beforehand. There is also a longer walk around the grounds if you have the time. Grafton Water is not far away and so is Cambridge but not much else in the village to see.
Very historic old (1492!) coaching inn in the middle of the pleasant village of Buckden. Next door to history-rich Buckden Tower. Pub area is quaint and it's nice to mingle with locals. Easy parking both in hotel lot and on street outside. Affordable rates. Owners were very welcoming and friendly.
We love The Lion Hotel, full of history and atmosphere. Could do with a bit of tlc but you have to remember that it dates back to the 1400, so it’s not easy to keep up with that and update at the same time. Would take a lot of time and money to do the job properly.
Relaxed and comfortable accommodation. The room and ensuite were sparklingly clean. Lovely food making it a great stop a minute of the A1. Preferred so much more than a chain hotel
Really friendly staff on arrival. Excellent location for the event we had on at Buckden Towers. The dining room / pub bit was lovely and cosy.
Room was super-clean.
