It was conveniently located for our cycling trip from south to north Shetland.
Staff very accommodating in storing our bikes.
In the heart of Shetland, St Magnus Bay Hotel is set in beautiful, tranquil surroundings. It was once frequented by W. H. Auden and Christopher Isherwood, the poet and playwright.

Very clean and the most comfortable bed we had in Shetland. Great shower and overall furnishings due to the recent renovations. Such a fabulous location too, with views of the bay. Food was great. Staff were super helpful and friendly.

The breakfast was nice, we did think 1 slice of toast each could of been better, though we were offered more afterwards, all in all a pleasant stay.

Great access to Muckle Roe, must see destination; lovely home cooking with farm fresh ingrediends (the lamb is a must); generous size, renovated room with modern bathroom; reliable regular bus service to other places in Shetland for those with backpacks, the isolation from town is a bonus, so relaxing; helpful and friendly service

A nice clean hotel situated on the waterside.
A nice clean hotel situated on the waterside. Very good staff who operated well under covid restrictions. The food was good and we enjoyed all our meals. Not gourmet food but good. Excellent selection of whiskies to try and a well balanced wine list.

I liked the location of the hotel and the staff were all very helpful and friendly.
The hotel had just had new boilers fitted so it was very warm and stifling in the bedroom.
The dining room could benefit from more lighting as it was quite dark

The hotel its self does need a little TLC but that didn't take away the good time we had there. As I've said before I would gladly recommend it although now I have thought about it there is no lift to the rooms which are upstairs, I think that would be the only down side for any one who had mobility problems. The hotel is well used by the locals which says a lot when the locals eat out there too.
The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, they go out of their way to make sure everything is to customer satisfaction. This hotel is a real gem and in a fabulous location with a lovely garden. The food is scrummy, waiters & waitresses very attentive. We loved relaxing in the Long Room after dinner. If we’re ever in Shetland again we’ll definitely stay again!
Always a pleasure staying at Busta. Staff are always first class, food excellent, rooms clean and comfortable and wonderfully quiet at night. Such a relief from city centre hotels. Would love to have more time to study the history of the site. Will make every effort to have a holiday visit rather than just work.
All the staff were very positive and helpful, especially when we had an early start on leaving.
The location is beautiful and the hotel has a lot of character. The Long Room was a great venue for meeting other guests and sampling whiskies or drinks of choice.
The food was of good quality, with ample portions.
The service and staff, especially Bradley (!) was exceptional. it was a beautiful, historical property, conveniently located to do day trips around the whole of Shetland. The food was great: the breakfast selection was very good: varied, fresh, and generous portions. The bar menu was top notch.
The staff makes this hotel, they are the best that I have come across, willing to help and nothing is too much trouble.
The location was quiet and the hotel has a large garden (although prone to midges at times - not the hotel staff's problem though just nature).
A romantic and charming hotel and restaurant in a gorgeous garden in the breathtaking beauty of the shetlands. Countryside hospitaliry at its best, nice and spacious rooms, good food, friendly staff. Sone 400 whiskies to choose from. Great country house atmosphere.
Good location for exploring Shetland. Nice breakfast. The hotel has a great history and it could be just fntastic ith some attention to detail. The Long Room is a beautiful space to relax in
Overall decor was very charming
Perfect location central on the Mainland island
Lovely surroundings
Good restaurant inside the hotel with some delicious choices
