A lovely place to stay, full of interesting buildings and great Pubs/Restaurants. The open air market was very disappointing but everything else was excellent.
The views as you get nearer to the town are breathtaking, we will definitely visit again

Buxton is a wonderfully historic town in Derbyshire, with the most amazing buildings and hotels. The countryside around the town is second to none and there are lots of things to do within the town and in the countryside beyond.

There is plenty to see and do in and around Buxton which surprised us. We stayed for 3 nights, but there was certainly enough to do and visit for 4 or 5 nights if you have transport. The range of eateries was amazing and good pubs serving local beer (as well as other choices).

Buxton is lovely. Live music!
Buxton is lovely. Live music!
We went for a gig at the opera house which was brilliant and then stumbled across a pub with a brilliant live band afterwards. Stayed over at the Palace and it was great. We did the same last year.
The house is beautifully furnished with a lot of thought, with modern and clean kitchen and bathroom fitting together with a more classic living room and bedrooms. TV in every bedroom and the living room, free Netflix and BBC iPlayer too so we did not need our own accounts. The beds are comfortable with crisp hotel bedsheets. We drove there so the more remote location is not a problem at all, it is in fact perfect for going out of Buxton to explore other parts of Peak District. Really felt like having a home away from home.
We were attending the Buxton opera house and so this place could not have been better - just opposite. It is basically a small restaurant/tea rooms with four rooms on the second floor (no lift). The room was large and the bathroom also big and agreeably old fashioned. Although August the room was rather cold but staff did put the heating on for us which made it all much more comfortable. The room actually had two comfy chairs - most hotels only seem to give you one!
A fantastic place to stay, big comfy room and snuggly bed, robes were provided for the spa. The bathroom had lovely shampoo, shower gel and even conditioner (which is rare in hotels). The facilities included in the price are amazing, and there are so many extras you can pay for its difficult to choose.
Its right in the centre of Buxton and very easy to find. The breakfast was amazing and had so much choice, and it was all great quality.
The hotel looks neat and very nice. The staff very polite and so helpful. The rooms are comfy and convient (except for one point I'll detail later). I didn't realise we would have a shared bathroom (but that's my mistake, it was clear from the website I just didn't pay attention), but it was not a bad experience, the bathroom was kept so clean.
Location is convenient just minutes away from Buxton centre and easy access from the road.
As someone who travels constantly this is by far one of the best places I have stayed, just stunning, they were over booked so I was given there cottage in town of Buxton, please do not hesitate to book botu cottage,it's central to everything and is so secluded and a perfect getaway, very high speck, a home away from home. Will book again in the future, can't wait to visit again.can not score it high enough.
Good location within walking distance of the main town centre and restaurants in a nice quiet area. The hotel has been painstakingly and beautifully restored. Rooms were large, comfortable and again immaculate with lots of nice thoughtful touches- big fluffy towels complimentary slippers, water and fruit. Also terrific breakfasts. Will definitely be our goto place to stay when we go back to Buxton
A lovely hotel very close to the Opera House & the Crescent with the art gallery & shops not far away. It's worth paying a little extra for a lake view with stunning scenery. My room was a spacious twin with an extremely comfortable bed. Check in was easy. Due to having to catch an early train, I had to miss breakfast but I was so impressed that I intend to stay here again.
Fitted out to a very high standard. A quiet location very conveniently located just up the hill from Buxton proper - 185/186 bus stop very close by. Excellent kitchen, all plates, cutlery, utensils and cooking requirements provided. Bathroom very nice too. Main and secondary bedrooms with extremely comfortable beds.
We were really happy with everything, location was an experience to walk to from the city centre. The room was bigger than expected and very comfortable and clean. The complementary prosecco and Buxton coffee was a pleasant surprise. We are definitely satying here if we go again to Buxton
This hotel is in the perfect location for us. The interior needs updating, and the food provision could be better, but the staff were charming and welcoming. On the other hand, I’d rather see it remain in poor decorative order than have it loose any of its essential historic character.
Great location in good walking distance to all Buxton sights and attractions. Close to two small supermarkets, too--one open 6 am--10 pm. Two big bedrooms, nicely furnished with comfortable beds. Kitchen had everything we needed. Dave was great to deal with. Would stay again!
The price was very reasonable. It is located very near Buxton Crescent, where I was meeting a friend. Kitchen is nicely outfitted (glassware, dishes, cookware, etc). Also liked the large bathroom with clawfoot tub and separate walk-in shower.
Very friendly hosts and staff and breakfast was lovely. Hotel is well placed for access to all local amenities with only a 15 minute leafy walk up to Poole's cavern. Would recommend for anyone who is looking to stay centrally in Buxton.
A lovely hotel in the heart of beautiful Buxton. My room was a great size and comfortable, brilliant value. Staff were helpful and friendly. Buxton is a great location to explore the nearby Peak District.
Excellent location near all the Buxton attractions. Good size room, comfy bed, very clean and lovely polite staff. Gerard was a great host. Lovely to walk through the park facing the hotel.
Spacious room and pleasant staff. The hotel is nicely located close to Buxton centre and the opera house. The area is quiet and pleasant, overlooking a park.
