This historic country inn has delicious food and luxury rooms. It is within a few km of the famous Celtic Manor Resort, home of the 2010 Ryder Cup. The Old Barn Inn dates back to the early 1750s.

The breakfast was good. Plentiful yoghurts fruit and cereal. Wide selection of cooked breakfast options that were ordered by completing a tick box menu. Prompt, friendly waitress / waiter service. Comfortable room. Dined in restaurant one evening, good menu selection, generous portions and food properly cooked and presented. Generally friendly staff throughout hotel. Spacious free car park.

The receptionist was very accommodating when she knew I was staying alone, and told me I was safe. The room was cleaned in time for me to have an earlier check-in which I was glad to pay the additional £10 for.

The town itself isn't particularly interesting, but it has a lovely castle with attractive grounds - great for walking round and also entrance at times. Surrounding countryside is also attractive with easy access to the Wye Valley, Roman remains at Caerwent and the Brecon Beacons.

Excellent location opposite the impressive Caldicot Castle, a short walk to the village centre and also nearby to the coast walk to view the Severn Bridges. Comfortable spacious rooms and a very good choice of breakfast. I left my wristwatch behind, which was returned by secure post, excellent service. Happy to recommend. Try the Castle Inn across the road, cracking little pub.

We used as a stop over on a long journey the hotel is fine nothing really to complain about just very very hot luckily we had a fan with us and a little noisy as we faced the car park and there was a car meet up with cars revving from 4am not sure if this was a one off and we just got unlucky but bed were comfy and had freeview tv and a mc Donald’s next door for breakfast

The Lychgate is only 10 mins from the main trunk roads and easy to find. It is located next to Caldicot Castle and has an excellent pub on the opposite side of the road. The room was boutique size, more than adequate for us. The room and property were spotlessly clean. Breakfast was plentiful. We would stay there again

The location was perfect for us as we were going to a gig at Caldicot Castle and it was literally across the road. Easy to find, access instructions were great, parking on the drive and extremely close to a pub which did a fantastic meal. Great freshly cooked breakfast which set us up for the day

The staff present on the day were very understanding of our situation. Unfortunately, they did not have any spare rooms. We had booked for 7 nights but we requested to leave after one night. The hotel staff gave us a full refund and £20 food voucher.
