Blackberry Cottage, St. Ives is situated in Carbis Bay, 2.7 km from Carbis Bay Beach and 13 km from St Michael's Mount, in an area where cycling can be enjoyed. The location was fantastic. The cottage was lovely.
Only went to the (lovely) beach once as the hill was so steep to get back up to accommodation near the the main road. Good location for hopping the bus to St Ives and nice views. The Cornish Arms pub is a nice spot for dinner/drinks. Lack of recycling bins.
Heater provided for room as it was a cold day, books to read was a good touch but all the same author ! DVDs to watch an excellent idea , tea and coffee was easy to make in room. , food was great , unfortunately private cottages at rear had barking dogs all night which totally ruined my stay as they were left outside all night barking , this was not the fault of my hosts, and they said they would report to the agents at rear, I would stay again here however and they accommodated my walk in shower wishes which was great
NO SEA VIEW. FROM BORDING HOUSE. CARBIS BAY BEACH IS VERY NICE CLEAN AND TIDY GOOD FACILITIES. DIFFICULT TO ACCSESS BY CAR UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY £20 PARKING FEE. PARK AT THE TOP AND WALK DOWN, THE WALK BACK IS VERY HARD NOT SUITABLE FOT ELDERLY PEOPLE UNLESS YOU ARE VERY FIT. CARBIS BAY IT SELF IS VERY SMALL AND NOTHING MUCH TO DO ONLY THE BEACH.
Beautiful white sandy bay with restaurant, bar and toilets. Access is via a very steep hill but there is a small car park but costly at £20 a day. Going down to the beach is fine, but going back up is a struggle, especially in this heat wave we’re currently having!!
St Merryn Hotel, our room was comfortable for a base to travel around Cornwall, using the regular bus service which was 150mts away. we used Costa's located in Tesco's for breakfast and other meals were easily available on our travels.
The coastal path very close to this hotel is a joy to walk on. Lovely peaceful walk going west (20 mins) to St. Ives, and you can return the same way and continue walking all the way along coastal path through Carbis bay to Lelant. It is the most picturesque route of sea views and enclosed footpaths with pretty wild flowers either side. Carbis bay itself is a little too commercial and busy for my taste but you can easily continue past it towards Lelant. All the time, coastal path is very close to railway line, which I liked, and I could get the train back from Lelant to Carbis bay when too tired to walk back, and short walk back to hotel (St. Merryn) . There used to be a small cafe doing exquisite cream tea in the old station house at Lelant station. Sadly no more I discovered this time, but still a beautiful part of the world,
Carbis Bay
Made very welcome, lovely clean property - the first thing that hits you. A hamper of goodies and essentials in the fridge - very thoughtful especially after a long journey. Well looked after by agent. Nice outdoor setting for bbq and relaxing. The area was beautiful and 5 minutes from the beach which was a bonus. Could walk into St Ives in 30 mins, buses at the top of the road if not feeling energetic and train station (Carbis Bay) 5 minutes away walking. Would highly recommend and definitely hire the house again.
Carbis Bay
Such a lovely little B&B in the perfect location. A short walk into Carbis Bay & a train journey taking only 3 minutes into St Ives from there. Managed to park right outside no problem. This B&B came recommended & it certainly didn’t disappoint. Adrian is lovely & welcoming. Both Adrian & his daughter couldn’t do enough for us which was so nice, thank you so much to both of you if you read this review. I will be recommending your B&B & hope to return soon.
Carbis Bay
Comms were great. Jackie was kind enough to let us check in early. The location was fantastic. Just five mins from the beautiful Carbis Bay beach. all via a little back route so safe for off lead with our pup. Also right beside the bus stops for getting to and from St Ives when he was already too tired from beach fun to walk. otherwise was only 25 min walk anyway so superbly located. The boathouse itself is beautiful and well equipped with everything you could need for a day or a week.
Carbis Bay
Lovely bungalow in a quiet residential cul-de-sac. Parking at the bungalow and on the street. Location good 15mins walk to Carbis bay (although be aware very steep so not good for the less mobile). Needed a wheelchair at the last moment before arriving which Jayne (the host) went out of her way to arrange. The bungalow was very comfortable and had everything you would possibly need.
Carbis Bay
Location was good for seeing Cornwall, Carbis Bay is lovely, train journey to St Ives was so quant. The walk from the church to the beach and along the beach was lovely. The coastal walk to St Ives is a must, even when the sun is shinning there is plenty of shade.
