The Pride of Wales
Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.
Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.
From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Centre, shopping in Cardiff is a delight. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants in which to rest awhile. Those by Cardiff Bay offer particularly pleasant views.
Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre. Another year 2000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and football matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.
Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city centre.

The hotel staff, taxi drivers, local shopkeepers and local people were all friendly and willing to share information about the area. The water bus and bay trips were well worth going on. The Norwegian church and other sights both in Mermaid Quay and Cardiff city and Castle were all worth visiting. We had a really good and interesting time.

I don't have anything good to say.
I don't have anything good to say. Bad experience, rude staff, they were offering a 9 am break fast and they were starting hoovering, cleaning and putting food away around us at 9.15.
They stole £50 from our card because 2 bottle of soap had broken. The self was unstable and they fell

We enjoyed our short stay in Cardiff and would probably have stayed another couple of nights. We had a great meal out at Ty Madeira, and enjoyed Cardiff Castle, although it is a slightly odd selection of different things to do. It is easy to get around Cardiff: we mainly walked but got taxis when the weather didn't allow that.

Didn't spend too much time in the city itself as we only went for a night to go to a music gig. That said Cardiff has changed a lot since I was last there 20 years ago. Much cleaner and more vibrant. I loved the shopping arcades that were only a stones throw from the railway station, the sports stadium and plenty of guest houses.
I do recommend some sort of map once you are in the city shopping area. I am pretty much ok but the person I was with has the sense of direction of a deranged lemming and once we got to the central shopping area she got totally lost.
Plenty of cheap places to eat and drink if you look, that cater to all tastes, ethnicity and diet. There are a multiplicity of stores that can offer everything from cute 'Welsh Dragon' plush toy stores to an entire shop dedicated to just selling Lego (Other building block construction kits are available!)
One massive plus is it so easy to get to places if you know where you are going. The fact that all the areas to shop, eat drink are in a pedestrianised location that has no vehicles AT ALL is great.

Cardiff is a lovely city that is close to many cool sights.
Cardiff is a lovely city that is close to many cool sights. The Cardiff castle is beautiful and right in the city center with a large park next to it. The people are friendly, and it’s cheaper than other areas in the UK. Cardiff is very walkable, and the public transport includes trains, local buses, and regional buses like FlixBus. We stayed for five days, which was perfect to explore the city and surrounding area. I recommend visiting the Welsh parliament, the Pierhead building, St Fagan’s open air museum, Castell Coch, and the Caerphilly castle.
The location of the hotel couldn’t have been anymore perfect. We could be in the city centre within mins with all the shops and restaurants that we could ask for. We enjoyed the park across the road and a visit to the castle. The river trip down to Cardiff Bay was fantastic with the boat leaving a minute walk across from the hotel in the park. The parking onsite was a real bonus. The hotel staff were all so helpful and restaurant staff were exceptional during our stay.
Location was excellent and only a few minutes walk from the train station as well as about 10-15 minutes from the city centre. Our room was very clean and tidy. Beds were warm and comfy and the bathrooms were very clean. Host was very responsive to messages and helped with everything we needed. If you’re staying in Cardiff this is the place to stay
The area itself is beautiful, peaceful, clean and it is very close to the city centre and Cardiff Bay.
The hotel was very clean and modern. The hallways, stairs were bright and always had a nice fragrance. The kitchen was very spacious and meticulously clean. The room was comfy, the bed was big and firm; and the en-suite was clean and modern.
The hotel is very close to the railway station and the city centre but if there are no events at the stadium the area is pretty quiet. It is a good base to explore the city and you can also walk to Cardiff Bay in half an hour along the river. The room was basic but clean and the staff are very helpful.
Great location opposite Cardiff Castle. Imposing public rooms and grand staircase. Comfortable room. Very good breakfast. Helpful reception staff. On-site (paid) parking. Walking distance to city centre shops and attractions. Ferry service back from Cardiff Bay stops in the nearby park.
Location and room were excellent. Close to the city centre, with enough restaurants and bars around to grab food/drinks. Luckily our room was at the other side of the hotel, so we didn't have any noise complaints at all, even though the hotel is next to an area with a ton of pubs.
Spacious rooms and an amazing building embracing it's history, Central to Cardiff bay and easy to get into City centre with Taxis and public transport, A fantastic price for the Sunday evening with the cricket in Sophia gardens on too so overall very happy with my experience.
The staff in the hotel are by far its greatest asset - all of them super friendly and helpful, the receptionist guy was very sympathetic and offered us several alternatives when we asked to change our room. The location is also great, right in the city centre.
The location is good, close to the center and Cardiff bay. Hotel has a big parking. I heard nothing from outside and it's wonderful. Staff was kind and when i didn't understand something they repeated and explained more. Thank you!
Room is big and clean with a really good view. Good location as it located in the middle of city center and the bay and close to train station. Breakfast time is starting from 7am-11am. Check out time is perfect at 11am.
Very spacious, nice location close to Cardiff Bay with public transportation links to Cardiff city centre proper. Helpful staff on the end of the phone when needing access to the property.
The hotel was very convenient for Cardiff bay and city centre and it had a car park breakfast was nice and room very clean, reception staff very helpful.
