    We love Castleton.

We love Castleton. It is such a great place for walking, from a short walk along the river to Hope, to 3-4 hour walks to Mam Tor or Loose Hill (this includes returning to Castleton). And there are some cozy fireside pubs right in the centre of the village with good food. We have stayed overnight at 3 pubs (Ye Olde Nags Head, The Castle and The Cheshire Cheese) and its just great. A few gift shops, but no supermarkets .... which means we are not tempted to do the shopping while we are away! To be honest I don't know where the nearest supermarket is. Have fun in Castleton!

Wonderful place, have stayed many times , plenty of walks for all abilities, the caverns are well worth a visit, and Peak cavern is a brilliant venue to see live bands and films, all the pubs are warm, welcoming and all the meals we have had were good value and excellent, never mind the real ales, well worth a holiday.

Castleton is a lovely village with lots of things to do and see. You have to like hiking and hills especially. There are numerous pubs all offering similar ware and all having a warm ambiance that makes you feel welcome. The village is full of history and is truly the gateway to a lot of hiking routes, mines, and just general nice English things you can and should do

    A lovely little place!

A lovely little place! If you like waking or friendly pubs a great location! We went on a Friday and lots of the shops closed, not sure why? Only small not much about to ‘wander’ but a couple of tea rooms You can easily do a lovely loop of Castletown in under an hour.,

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights on a mid-week break at the Four Seasons Guesthouse. The booking was for room only as no breakfast was offered, but there are plenty of breakfast places within a 5 minute walk in the village. There was no on-site parking and we did not want to park directly in front of the accommodation because it was on a very busy street so we parked in a small turning opposite the building. We had a large, bright, airy king-size bedroom facing the back of the building so no traffic noise and lovely and cool despite daytime temperatures in the high 20s. The bed was very comfortable, the en suite amenities well equipped and the tea/coffee facilities plentiful with fresh milk every day in the fridge. This was an ideal place for a stay in the area and great value for money. The village itself is compact with plenty of pubs, cafes and other eateries offering meals throughout the day. The pavements were somewhat narrow so care and politeness are needed because during the day the roads are very busy. The nearby tourist attractions (caverns, walks, castle, museum etc) are easily accessible in a countryside that is beautiful.

    Beautiful English village.

Beautiful English village. Lots of quaint little shops, plenty of places to get something to eat and drink, although can be a bit difficult during busy times. Excellent base for those wanting to visit the local caverns or go hiking in the Peak District.

I love staying at YHAs in general, but they are all different: Castleton Losehill is special it is a beautiful property perfectly located in the Dark Peak- for me it's a great stopping point halfway between work and home. But more than that the villages around have tons of lovely pubs, shops, and history as well as being in a beautiful part of the world where you can go for walks long or short. YHAs are no frills but for 30 pounds to have your own room, have it be quiet and free wifi- you can't really complain.

The room was very clean and tidy, had good facilities. Was so much nicer than expected. Has its own little “terrace” for residents instead of going all the way downstairs and outside. Location is brilliant, in the centre of Castleton with all the shops and tourism. When checking in the staff were really welcoming. Breakfast isn’t ridiculously early like other hotels, which is what we liked. Got complimentary drinks in the room free of charge.

The hotel is an ideal location in the centre of Castleton with amazing views and parking available out the front. We were greeted by Alan who was really friendly and helpful, and we had a large clean room with a big bathroom and everything we needed- coffee maker, tea bags, TV, fridge, towels etc. Overall extremely good value for money and very happy with our stay!

We had a hugely enjoyable holiday in Castleton. Our stay here was relaxing. Our room big and beautifully decorated, and with a wonderful view. Gary, the owner - and chef:), was fantastic! He correctly suggested we leave the car and walk through the farm into the village - the stroll was magical that I almost proposed to my girlfriend!
