You can't grumble at the low price of The Charles Hotel. The room was large and warm and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was good and the free parking is an added bonus. With the station nearby, it makes a good base from which to explore the area.

We went particularly to spend a day visiting the Chatham dock yard. It was amazing in size and content. We learned a lot about its history and were fascinated in going on board three historic vessels there. The eating areas were very good and gave good choices even for Vegans! Plenty of parking under cover.

The Historic Dockyard was absolutely fabulous and well worth the visit. Give yourself the whole day to take everything in. There are some hidden gems, like The Command House' bar and restaurant and also the Hollywood Bowl restaurant and Bar.
Not entirely sure what to say about the town centre. Walking late at night through the town centre could be unnerving for some and during our 3 day stay we never saw a police presence on the streets. Lots of small groups of men gathered around.

Chatham town centre has various places to visit.
Chatham town centre has various places to visit. The Dockyard is a must see. There are various places to done and drink. We went to a fabulous Indian restaurant called the Sultan which provided many tasty local Indian dishes to satisfy it's diners taste buds. It's an easy place to get around by car or on foot. Walking through the town centre does not give the visitor much to fill them with excitement. Many facilities are tired, dated and you feel need regeneration. Hopefully in the future this could be rectified to show off more of the Maritime history the town is noted for.

Chatham town itself may not be anything special - a typical south-east England town. But there are some places of interest nearby, and Chatham could be a very good base from which to explore and visit other sites on the south coast and even in London.
For example, in Chatham there is the Historic Dockyard, a must for all ages with an interest in naval history. Rochester nearby has the castle, now a ruin but the site of an overnight stay by king Henry the 8th.
Very clean and comfortable room. All the facilities I would have expected, except for a hairdryer. However, upon request a hairdryer was provided so problem solved! I was given a lovely welcome and seated in reception with a lovely coffee before being shown to my room. I was also taken into the adjoining restaurant and very well looked after by the waiting staff and had a delicious dinner. If I have the need to return to Chatham this will definitely be my first choice for accommodation!
Celebrating a birthday we had a night away here. Our package was Dinner bed and breakfast. We had wonderful food and our room was spacious and tidy with great facilities. The guest service manager Priya made sure my mums birthday was celebrated by putting balloons and a card in the room The Staff sang happy birthday at dinner. What can I say my mum had a wonderful birthday night away thanks to all the staff at Chatham Holiday Inn 🧡 always a pleasure to stay here
It is a new hotel or May be it is undergoing refurbishment so the outside does not look fantastic but when you step inside, everything is nice, very clean and neat. Staff are very nice. The rooms were big and nice. There were standing fans in the room. The bed was massive and all the sheets were nice and clean. It is worth the money. I will stay there again and I also recommend it to others.
Me and my partner had a lovely stay at the hotel very lovely accomodation the landlord was very welcoming when we got lost he picked us up from the train station which was very helpful we would recommend to come back here again the house was very clean and very nice area and quiet. Thankyou for being so helpful and welcoming. I recommend a thousand star 💫 review
Met expectations for the type of hotel and rating. Very pleasant and accommodating Hotel Manager. Good clean room with view. Facilities great. Lovely to have roof parking. Good breakfast and coffee facilities. On the whole a good pleasant stay, close to places that I was visiting including being close to main railway station and bus facilities in Chatham.
Excellent facilities, furnishings level excellent, this establishment eclipses most 5 star hotels, showering is superb and Ayo and her janitorial team have gone to considerable lengths to make customer satisfaction an absolute.
Well done Chatham Guest House, IMHO, Guest House of the year 2023.
The staff at the hotel were all wonderful and did their best to make us comfortable. The locations was brilliant as we were very interested in the maritime dockyard museum as well as several other nearby points of interest on the South Coast. Motorway access was great.
I was pleasantly surprised and very happy with everything about the hotel considering the very reasonable price. I will definitely be staying with these lovely people again, we felt well looked after and can thoroughly recommend the restaurant next door.
One of the best buffet breakfast I have had in a hotel in a long time.
Was very quiet in room while I was there
Full size tv so no wishing you had brought a pair of binoculars to watch the small tv 15 foot from bed as in a lot of hotels
Room was very good size, the bed was really comfortable overall we enjoyed our stay and the breakfast was brilliant. The hotel was very convenient for the reason of a funeral we attended and the wake was at bridgewood manor hotel.
The hotel was lovely and staff were really friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was great with lots of options and we enjoyed a swim in their little pool in the morning.
Chatham itself is a beautiful place and we went to the historic dockyard which was absolutely amazing. So in general it was OK the accommodation let it down!
