Some areas of central Cheltenham are lovely and others, much less so. The more genteel areas have a wide range of places to eat that will suit all tastes. There are some lovely parks.
Street parking with a permit is a bit of a lottery. You may be lucky to find a spot in your zone but this could be some distance from your accommodation.

Cheltenham is a Regency town with an excellent choice of restaurants and bars and a good base to explore the Cotswolds , one of England's most beautiful areas .
The town is also a conference and events centre , with literary and jazz festivals and horse racing being the most popular events
For those of you with an appreciation of architecture , it is a treasure trove of Regency and Gothic styles .
Visitors with an interest in the history of Aviation are strongly recommended to visit the Jet Age museum nearby

Its a lovely town, We were lucky to see a show at the Everyman Theatre, which is a beautiful provincial theatre - Cheltenham is lucky to have it but it was full up on the Tuesday night we visited. We were saddened to see so many empty shops and especially that the huge Cavendish House store is closing, which will have a depressing effect on the town centre. There were lots of very nice looking restaurants and bars. We would love to visit again and spend more time looking around.

Cheltenham is a lovely historic town with plenty to see and do. There is loads of choice for dining and drinking and lots of unique shopping outlets making the place stand out compared to most towns.
I can’t say whether younger people would rate the place as highly but the majority of residents and visitors we met were older generation and very pleasant .
We attended an Elkie Brooks gig at the Town Hall which was a great experience in a lovely building. I would estimate the average age of attendees as 70+. So that confirms the target demographic of the town.

We love Cheltenham, as we used to live in Gloucestershire.
We love Cheltenham, as we used to live in Gloucestershire. We frequently travel to Cheltenham for shopping and for a meal out in one of the many restaurants. It is perfect for us for a day trip. This one night stay was because we chose to break our journey home from London, as it was the halfway point and thought that it would be nice. The hotel did not live up to expectation.

Journeying between Wales and Sussex, I wanted to meet up with my nephew. He took me to Tivoli bar - great atmosphere. One night stay in The Midland Hotel - not posh - but just right! liked the graffiti on the wall opposite, by the Station!
Location - near to the centre of Cheltenham and near to family members whom we were visiting. Value for money - hotel/overnight accommodation prices were high overall, the 27th and 28th October being the start of the Cheltenham racing season (which we hadn’t realised). Clematis House was excellent value for money compared with other possibilities we considered. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and the quality was exceptional.
The agent was at the property as agreed, opened the apartment, showed me all the facilities and gave advice where to park. I’ve stayed in many Cheltenham hotels, this is by far better than a hotel. The accommodation was very well equipped, the wet room was awesome, tv in the lounge was hi tec. The facilities in the kitchen were very high grade. And to top it off, they provided courtesy drinks, and breakfast food.
We arrived earlier than the check in time and as our room was available we were given the keys straight away.
We had the cosy king, which although small was well designed with plenty of storage and the space well used.
Room was clean.
Bed and pillows super comfy.
Fantastic location in walking distance of the town centre.
Managed to park just around the corner just 2-3 min walk from the hotel.
This apartment is in a great location with free on-street parking, walking distance from town centre & perfect for anyone working in Cheltenham.
It’s decorated beautifully and is very spacious for a reasonable price. I’d thoroughly recommend this place to anyone coming to Cheltenham to stay for a few nights - you will not regret it.
The room was tastefully decorated, spacious and quiet. The shower was amazing, I could have stood there for hours! The breakfast was to die for, definitely one of the best I've ever tasted. Check in and parking was easy. The location was perfect for us and close to some lovely restaurants and bars without being in a noisy location.
This was one of the best nights stays we have had, a group of 4 businessmen working in Cheltenham. Could not book 4 hotel rooms in the same hotel due to Races.
After this stay we would book again without hesitation. Perfect location in the city centre.
Sharing a house was much more relaxing than hotel cars and restaurants.
We loved this hotel. So clean, warm, spacious, great customer service on check in. So comfy. Dog friendly (extra £15). Not far from Cheltenham town centre. I wanted to stay another night.
Plenty car parking spaces.
Room service available but we ate evening meal and breakfast in the bar with the dog.
Great food.
Everything was really clean, bed was comfy, the wifi was fast, the area was nice and quiet, there was a bus station nearby that took us straight into Cheltenham town centre, there were good shops nearby, all in all it was wonderful. Would book again for our next trip to Cheltenham.
A lovely spacious accomodation for 4 people. Sparkling clean and superb facilities. Host very quick to respond and great instructions for self check-in and how everything in the place works. Fabulous location for the centre of Cheltenham and Racecourse. Free onsite parking.
my bed was very comfy .room i had was very spacious twin room comfy chair .hotel is in a great location especially for shopping and cheltenham hospital .free carpark space available definately stay there again .all the staff were very pleasant and helpful
Perfect location. Young man on receptionist went above and beyond. So helpful, polite, pleasant and professional. He would be more suited to one of Cheltenham's 5* hotels! Thank you for going out of your way to help us with parking/directions etc
One of the grander Georgian hotels in Cheltenham. Conveniently located for local shops, bars and restaurants and only a short walk from the centre of town. Glad we decided to take a taxi, and not walk, from the train station as quite a distance.
A lovely hotel with great service and tasty food. Lovely and quiet at night even though it’s a very short distance to the town centre (literally a 5 minute walk). The room we had was comfy, spacious and nicely decorated.
The cotswald Grange is a beautiful hotel with period features in a lovely area of Cheltenham and just a short walk into the town centre. The hotel was maintained to a high standard and the staff were very attentive.
Room well-appointed, stylish and very comfortable with excellent en suite. Easy walk into Cheltenham centre and Montpellier district. Cooked breakfast was first class. Would definitely stay here again.
beautiful property and amazing huge room with the most comfortable king bed ever. bathroom was very big as well and the shower was great. this is the best hotel I’ve stayed in a long time!
Nice hotel in great location for both walks and city centre. Hotel was not inexpensive but had large, comfortable room overlooking gardens in the square
