Staff were excellent. It was obvious that they work hard, communicate well with each other and always have the customer’s interests at heart. Facilities, food and ambience were great. Perfect location.

Rooms are above a lovely traditional pub right in the centre of Hexham. We were concerned about the noise levels but there was only a little background buzz. Really comfy beds and great shower with plenty of hot water. Room and bathroom really clean and look like they have been recently decorated. We found parking nearby without too much trouble and really enjoyed our stay here. Staff couldn't have been friendlier 🙂

Homely pub with friendly host and great service. Very helpful and provided us with juice, cereal and yoghurt for breakfast which we appreciated.
Fish and chip shop next door was handy for dinner. Nice, quiet location.

The George Hotel could be great but it lacks the final polish. It is in a very picturesque position and more should be made of it. The cuisine should be reviewed as at present it is not acceptable. Service is good but the hotel lacks the personal feeling. If it makes the effort and up's it's approach to customer satisfaction it will be a great hotel and a great venue for functions like weddings etc

The trip was planned to view Roman architecture in Chollerford and the surrounding area, should have allocated an extra day. So much to see. Very helpful staff at the English Heritage sites. Great area to visit.

Beautiful surroundings and a good location for visiting loads of local attractions. Sitting in the garden with a glass of wine and soaking up the view was brilliant. The hotel staff were great and the whole place had a busy, buzzy feel. The only downside is the hotel needs redecorating.

It was a good place to stay for travelling around to visit...
It was a good place to stay for travelling around to visit different places, we have never been to Northumberland before but found it very interesting & we were very lucky with the weather which made it very pleasant for outside tours ECT.
We walked to Chollerford as part of our Hadrian's Wall hike. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed after a long day of walking. Our room and bathroom were very modern and the views were fantastic. The pool onsite was very helpful for aching legs. We got the half board and thus worked out to be one of the cheaper places we stayed at along the wall, as we did not have to pay additional for dinner.
The location is stunning, set in beautiful grounds and was exactly where we needed to be for walking parts of Hadrian's Wall. The hotel is clearly struggling to get up and running to the standard it wants to meet followiing the lockdowns but the staff were as helpful as they could be and eager to put anything right that we asked about.
The breakfast was pretty good and the bar was well-stocked and not overpriced.
Gorgeous location, rooms lovely and clean.
Pool lovely and warm changing rooms very clean.
I liked the seating areas around the hotel very relaxing
I didn't eat but my friends did and the food looked lovely, breakfast looked fantastic massive choice.
Staff were very polite and friendly.
I particularly liked the garden I would like to return with my family in the summer
We stayed here for 1 night whilst completing the Hadrians Wall walk so the swimming pool was a welcome extra. The rooms were good despite being a little tired. The view from room overelooking the gardens and the river were lovely.
The night porter couldn’t have done enough for us when we arrived back at the hotel after a wedding, this made up for the frosty welcome we received by reception who was quite rude upon reflection.
The hotel is in a lovely setting, the staff are very friendly and the bedrooms and public rooms are well appointed. The staff even surprised me with a specially decorated table for my birthday!
Great price. Good location. Lovely River side garden. Single night stays on a Saturday were all plus points. You get what you pay for and we were very happy with the hotel and food.
Location was really handy for Museum's and Hadrian's wall. The lovely gardens at the hotel and comfortable lounge made our stay quite relaxing.
The breakfast was lovely.
We liked the premises however dogs were welcome but all over the hotel barking from 05.45 Saturday morning not on.
Ideal location staff shortages
Would stay again
