Beautiful quiet location. Fabulous views from the bedrooms and the beer garden. The staff were exceptional all very friendly, polite and welcoming. All were genuinely keen to make your stay as easy as possible. The rooms were fabulous, large and airy and spotlessly clean. Dinner was a delight with beautifully presented dishes that were way above ‘pub food level’. Breakfast was cooked to order, fresh and plentiful.

Santo's Higham Farm Hotel, hotel in Clay Cross

In the heart of the Derbyshire countryside, Santo's Higham Farm Hotel has stunning views over the Amber Valley.

Lovely hotel with a fantastic countryside view from the car park, larger than it looks from the outside too. The room was comfortable with a modern bathroom. The service was good for Dinner we sat in the courtyard which is a lovely sun trap and the portion size was great value for money and the food delicious. Breakfast staff were attentive although we were advised that breakfast was from 7:30am on Sunday morning by our Dinner waitor, it was actually 8am so we did have to wait a while but were given coffee whilst waiting.

The bed was spacious and comfortable, the room was warm and nicely decorated. We had a suite with an office area and a patio which was welcome as the room is compact. Staff were helpful and accommodated a late check out as we attended a funeral the next day.

Around 2 miles from Alfreton, Boundary, Alfreton by Marston's Inns offers en suite accommodation in Derbyshire.

We were two families with 3 small kids and it was a great experience. We got the tents setup in the room with board games etc. in the room which the kids enjoyed thoroughly. There was kitchen with oven and microwave with all the utensils. Overall, excellent stay and location was terrific with lots of restaurants and bars just on the walk down.

There's some great pubs locally that have amazing food menu's and also have live music most weekends . There are some very good car boots close by to clay cross and its great to go for a mooch around looking for some bargains ..Tansley is a morning car boot every Sunday and Twin Oaks is a Saturday afternoon take wellies as this time of year the ground can be quite muddy . We throughly enjoyed our weekend in Clay Cross and will most definitely return

Good location gor our trip. Room large but could do with a refresh. Disappointed at paying full price when an 18th birthday party was taking place which disturbed our sleep. Lovely food and the waitress was very attentive. No manager appeared to be on the premises and not heard back with regards to complaint.

There wasn't much to Clay Cross that we we saw and we didn't look around the area particularly. Mostly rural but a static mobile home park was close by. Easy to find using a sat nav., just avoid the bike riders - of which there were quite a few.

Our hotel was situated a few miles outside Clay Cross at the hamlet of Wooley Moor. We visited Clay Cross on two occasions once to dine at the Three Horseshoes [excellent] and secondly to shop at the Tesco Extra store situated in the town centre, We particularly liked the unrestricted free parking available in the town centre.

The room (a superior one) was an excellent size, the bathroom was enormous. Staff were excellent, friendly and had plenty of advice about how to get about. Breakfast was varied from fruit or porridge right up to a full English. Evening meals were also of a very high standard and the menu is varied enough for most tastes (lentil and Quorn advocates excepted). The staff provided lactose free milk to have in our room as well as as mealtimes and housekeeping were unobtrusive but excellent too. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

The accommodation is lovely - spacious, spotlessly maintained and clean, and well equipped. The food is outstanding - breakfasts are well prepared and cooked and a highlight. And the dinners are outstanding - great menu choice, well served and prepared and really tasty. Top drawer in every respect. The service is just great. There is a shortage of hotel staff nationally but Mel and Dave are copping so well and making their residents feel special.

The room was clean tidy the furniture was a little dated the WiFi code given to us was old and the arrival pack had not been updated but was given the correct details by one of the bar staff. One of the bedside lamps did not work reported but not to much of a bother. The hotel interior was well furnished and relaxing, and well presented

It was perfectly located for Stretton Manor Barn for a wedding we were attending. As we were staying with our 14 year old daughter, it was nice that she was able to have her own room but still be next to us. This wouldn’t have been possible in a standard hotel.
