I know Cowes well because my mother in law lived there so...
I know Cowes well because my mother in law lived there so for many years I regularly visited her and stayed in the town. Since she died I have not visited as often and hadn't been to the Isle of Wight for two years until I stayed this autumn. It was a quick visit, but the shops in Cowes and the waterfront areas and town beaches are always interesting. I wouldn't stay quite as late in the year again as many places shut at the end of October or by early November, and if they're not shut completely they can be quiet and shut early (eg some of the out of town shops). Even the Cowes shops were beginning to wind down about 4pm on the Saturday and there weren't many people about. So do go but the warmer months and early autumn are probably better as there's more going on and there are more options. We ate at Mojac's and the Pier Inn, both excellent places for evening meals. The Pier Inn is also a pub but has a separate dining area. It was nice to go in pubs and for them not to be crowded but they do shut bang on 11pm.

Easy access to Osborne House in East Cowes.
Easy access to Osborne House in East Cowes. Really worth a visit! The island is very small and so one can drive round it and see lots each day.. Everywhere on the island is less than 35 minutes from Cowes (in October). Lots of good restaurants in Cowes.

We love the Isle of Wight.
We love the Isle of Wight. Beautiful island and I feel so safe there. We ate at The Coast which we thoroughly recommend. Tremendous atmosphere.
When we didn't use our car we used a local taxi who were brilliant and never let us down.

We enjoyed our visit although as it was the Isle of Wight Festival during our visit traffic queues and road closures were in abundance. We spent a lovely day at the Big Cat sanctuary which was fairly empty making it a good opportunity to see the cats and talk to the keepers who are all so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Great visit. There are lots of shopping facilities, great views and lovely little hamlets and places to visit around the island. The park we stayed in was peaceful but had easy access to Cowes and to the ferry port. Friendly people and we enjoyed great weather.

We were visiting family and attending a wedding, the resort is very busy and cheerful with lovely bats, restaurants and shops and boutiques. The waterfront is very picturesque and attracts visitors of all ages. There isnt to much to do for children that i saw, but maybe thats something to look into.

We arrived on the RedJet ferry.
We arrived on the RedJet ferry. Friends gave us a lift to the B & B, but we could have walked there. Lots of nice independent shops, friendly shopkeepers. There is an ice cream hut at the beach, Cabin on the Green. We mostly walked along the esplanade to the High Street, although we also went in the opposite direction to Gurnard. The Westvale gets the sun on its patio most of the day and great for watching the sunset. We ate in The Globe, The Pier View, and The Gardens. There is a maritime museum in the library and one of the bookshops has lots of maps for walking trails. There is a floating Bridge that takes you to East Cowes. There is a bus stop at M & S food hall, but we didn't use it. Friends took us about in their car to go further afield.
We booked the Fat Badger Chalet for a one night stay and it was fantastic. Melissa and Jonathan were so lovely and friendly (and their dogs Magnus and Coco). The chalet was really clean and comfortable with en-suite bathroom, really good value and so close to Cowes town centre, a short 5 minute walk through a park. Breakfast on our own terrace was delicious and freshly cooked. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to come again soon!
The location was perfect - only a few steps to the main streets of Cowes and a couple of minutes to the chain ferry. The house was comfortable and well equipped. Lovely to have an out-door sitting space. We used buses to get around the island and the bus terminal was only minutes away. Buses were regular and dependable. The walk from Yarmouth to Allum Bay was great as is the trip on a RIB out to the Needles.
Sunny and warm. Great location. Staff friendly and supportive.
The living room contains the queen size bed as well the sofa(bed). The room is of decent size although it got a bit cramped once the sofa bed was laid out.
The kitchenette is a separate room which I prefer. The apartment is on the Cowes high street and there is a taxi rank and bus stop right behind the apartment.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Barbara did some changes in the room setup which I didn't ask for ahead - many thanks! The attitude, the breakfast - just like being a guest of the family. It's also a short walking distance from the center and the Cowes Yacht Haven. A very comfortable and clean room, with a very nice shower and bathroom outside the room (but still private).
Location is very ideal if you travel by Red Jet, about 3 min walk from the terminal. Great amenities around since it's in the town centre of Cowes. Host is very attentive and friendly. The bedroom is very spacious, with a separate room equipped with microwave, sink, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities - more than enough for what we needed.
The property is very clean and spacious. The decor is beautifully done.
It is in a brilliant location for Cowes centre.
You could easily cook yourself, but there are plenty of take aways/ restaurants in town. Host was very easy to contact and very helpful.
The manual has clear instructions and information for anything you can think of!
The location was great for just walking down into Cowes for shopping and evening meals out. Breakfast was really lovely and there was a great choice, pancakes were the best we’ve had anywhere! Room was really spacious and really appreciated the little touches of fresh fruit in the room, water and Kit Kats to go with the tea and coffee!
It was quick to book in with a passcode and order breakfast as it was all done online. Fresh fruit and greek yoghurt was the best in the morning just a sample of what breakfast I had.
The room was very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was very clean too. Definitely recommend this guest house to anyone staying at Isle of Wight.
Professional, friendly and very accommodating staff. Rooms are spotlessly clean and everything you would expect for a "room at the inn" (as in boutique local accommodation). Breakfast is good, facilities/rooms are warm, clean and spacious. All in all really good value for money. Fantastic location at heart of West Cowes
We very much enjoyed our stay. Our room had spectacular views of the sea and was very spacious. All of the hotel staff were lovely and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious cooked by Michael a brilliant chef. We look forward to returning again soon.
The hotel is in a great location overlooking the Solent and is a 20 minute walk along the promenade into West Cowes town centre, where there are plenty of restaurants and shops. The staff were friendly and helpful and our room was very clean.
Exactly what we needed for a break on the Isle of Wight - clean. spacious & well equipped van on a lovely clean site with great facilities. Great communication by the owner, couldn't have asked for more. We'll back back :)
Stable cottages was lovely and cozy a short walk to the beach and dog friendly. Nice welcome from the owner and nice touch with eggs and milk in fridge with tes or coffee in jars.
It was close to town and the seafront. It felt like a ‘safe place’ as I was familiar with The Union. I have eaten and drank many many times as I live in Cowes.
