Peaceful and a lovely sunny area to sit out in.
Scrummy collection of quality tea and coffee, not the usual bitter nescafe.
Beautiful bedding, light but warm.

This is a lovely pub hotel. Historic, quirky, well looked after. It feels beautifully maintained and fresh whilst being sympathetic to its age. Evening meal delicious. Not cheap, but when the plates arrived each entirely justified their pricing by being special. Pub fish and chips never normally this individual and delicious. Breakfast matched. Staff were exclusively friendly, chatty and helpful.

Cranbrook is a beautiful picture post card town with clapperboard houses, dominated by the church and the School. The Museum and the Windmill need to advertise better when they are open. I am concerned that The Providence Hall, an important listed Non conformist chapel, is clearly deteriorating and is being allowed to reach a point where it will be considered beyond repair and reuse. Thank goodness the Coop is available to buy food etc from.
I arrived on a bank holiday Sunday evening by public transport so had to get a taxi from Staplehurst Station. £20 for 4 miles . I left by Arriva bus on my bus pass.-free.

We were literally staying for 1 night before moving onto a pre booked activity the next day but perfect for an overnight stay. Some lovely little shops and everyone we encountered was so friendly and welcoming.

We were only booked for one night, hotel/pub could do so much better. Staff lovely, room comfy, but that's about it. The area has very few choices for eating so really missing the chance to earn a buck here.

Friendly staff.
Friendly staff. Could leave the luggage in reception as the room was not ready for check in when we arrived early, luggage was brought to the room by the staff! Very good breakfast; good selection and served hot, straight from the kitchen!

I liked the many timbered buildings along the main street, with their flower gardens in front, the church on the hill in the centre of village, and the well-kept and tall windmill, which is open on Saturdays. The village struck me as a community rather than a tourist hotspot. There are numerous independent shops and a good variety of restaurants.
We arrived early evening, and were greeted by the Manager who was very helpful then ate at the Hotel.
We choose Chicken Parmigiana, Prawn, chorizo and crab Linguine, Smoked trout and champ fishcakes, and Slow cooked honey glazed belly of pork. The food was very good, although our daughter said that the pork was dry, although the crackling was lovely.
The cost of the room included a very good choice of item to choose from for breakfast, and was very good.
The George is a lovely place to stay, in the centre of Cranbrook. Warm and welcoming with a relaxed yet attentive feel. The property itself is well preserved with lovely characterful rooms. The bar has a buzz with a good mix of people and the restaurant is lovely.Breakfast is excellent with a good menu, made to. The staff and the manager are friendly and attentive.
Booked evening party meal went very well. Food was excellent. Room clean and tidy apart from old windows which were hard to adjust, but was informed that new windows were to be installed which would greatly improve the room.
Hotel does need refurbishing.
We stayed in room 4. The four poster Tudor room, where Queen Elizabeth I stayed in the 16th century. Great market town hotel. Plus the service was also great after departure in returning some items that I left in the room.
The hotel is charming, the rooms very comfortable, the staff top-notch, and the food delicious. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to stay in a special place that is also a little piece of history. Excellent value.
The hotel atmosphere! I love staying in B&B hotels with a historical presence...everything was quite comfortable, pleasant, and convenient. The town was charming also
Old worldly charm of the historic hotel and lovely staff led by the excellent manager who went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
