It was a good sized family room with little kitchenette which was very helpful. The staff were flexible with the check in and check out as we had to check in late and check out very early. They were also willing to accommodate us sending a package there if we needed.

Although this was a very last minute, one night only booking, and we didn't get to experience the full package right down to breakfast or dinner, the hotel 150% met our expectations. Room was spacious, clean with modern, also very clean bathroom.
Couldn't have asked for better. Will definitely book The Ship Inn again should we find ourselves in the area.

This is a fantastic location- beautiful walks, a hugely interesting museum almost next door- highly recommended- and Gem Rock Museum with its amazing displays, and great cafe with homemade food.
Really good and hugely appreciated the Barholm has dog friendly rooms, and highly accommodating and helpful in multiple ways.
The staff of the Creetown Museum were fascinating and so patient explaining and guiding us around this treasure of a place. So kind to let us bring our dog in on a quiet wet day
Would surely payback many times over if dogs were similarly allowed in even a corner of the GM cafe, rather than to sit on outside tables. The soup was lovely however and the kind lady server was extremely helpful however in providing waterproof covers for seats and offer of umbrella
Really Creetown is a gem of a place in itself
Can’t really praise Barholm and Creetown Initiative highly enough

We weren’t staying here particularly for Creetown itself, but because it was a good location for visiting the entire area. It is an easy drive round to Wigtown, and we could access trails and sights with a shortish drive. We had a good meal at the local Lairds Inn. And it’s a short drive to Newton Stewart for grocery shopping (Sainsbury, Aldi).

Small village with an interesting history (Most of the liverpool docks stone comes from the area). Well cept, clean and tidy. A profusion of whiskey barrels give a clue to the other industry in the village.
The village shop is excellent. It's a shame that there is no restaraunt or pub, but Newton Stewart has all the facillities you would need if you don't mind driving or cycling.

Lovely base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway.
Lovely base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway. Go up into the woodlands behind the town and find a Victorian curling pond, with many dragonflies and butterflies in summer. The Gems and Minerals museum is great. Not far from the Big Water of Fleet viaduct. Take care on the A75 road with the lorries going to Stranraer.
