The hotel was in a very good location, particularly as the purpose of our visit was to go to the living museum.
It was nice to walk to the nearby bar and the huge shopping centre.
The room was clean and the bed comfortable.
We had a lovely welcome from the receptionist on arrival and my husband received a birthday card and a voucher for a free drink in the hotel.
We upgraded our room which cost £50, as this included breakfast for both days it was worth it.
We also enjoyed the swimming pool and jacuzzi and found that the pool and changing area was very clean.
This former 19th-century schoolhouse has been converted into a comfortable hotel with a friendly atmosphere. Himley Country Hotel is located on the Shropshire border, on the edge of Dudley.

Absolutely disgusting. Got to put room which was wide open with all the dirty towels and sheets that the cleaner clearly couldn't be bothered to pick up.
Oh and the whole corridor smelt like shit and fags.
In the room there was fried chicken coating on the sides and floors
Don't get me started on that bed and bedding and your charging how much a night??? Honestly and I mean you can hear EVERYTHING we didn't sleep a wink
And for a couple they give you two flat pillows, I got a taxi home to get pillows as we were refused more
The only decent thing about this shit hole was leaving it

I liked the location. It was nice and quiet. It was also easy to get out and about because it wasn't far away from a main road.

Absolutely nothing it was awful, and you can’t contact anyone to report problems and there were loads of them!!!!!!. They wouldn’t even reply to Booking.Com when I complained to them, if you book this place you are on your own believe me I must have rang them at least 6 times and nothing they wouldn’t reply to phone or emails, we didn’t stay the second night as it was so bad . Son in law got bitten by something ( dread to think what it was) no mattress covers on bed mattresses were disgusting. We booked into a Travel lodge how wonderful that was. Had photos but can’t find them .

I love the diversity found in Dudley, especially the multi-cultural food, something for every one, sure beat bland british, and that yank fat food muck. Plenty of History to be found here, and all around The Black Country. Well situated for the big city experience in Birmingham, and The Severn Valley is so close you can almost touch it.

Accomodation was very central so parking problems.
Accomodation was very central so parking problems. Short term parking only. Free at night but had to be out and away very early. Town centre very drab like any other old industrial town in decline. Eating out mostly limited to fast food places but found the pearl of Dudley - Olives. Highly recommend. Great food, friendly service. All round excellent.
Black Country Living Museum great place to visit.

This property is very convenient.
This property is very convenient. Its close to lots of shops and restaurants. Unfortunately the property has appliances that don't work as it should. There is no heating but a portable fan heater which is a Health and safety hazard. Microwave does not work, no hairdryer although the website says otherwise. No shampoo or shower gel provided. When complained about it to the management agency answer given was they are using a new housekeeping crew. My partner and I could not shower before visiting our friends and family. As it was Xmas day so everything was closed. Beware its an unmanned building so any problems will be through phone before close of business and any emails sent will have a link for you which does not work and your email will bounce back. The management had an answer for this as well: there is a problem with their links and IT are addressing the issue which should be resolved next week ??? What a shame.

The location of the hotel is excellent.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Easy to find just off the main routes, good transport links with a bus service 50 yards from the door and a train station just down the road. good for visiting Black Country Museum and Dudley Castle and Zoo, both within a 20 minute walk. Cinema and 10 pin bowling just a 10 minute walk away with restaurant chains near by.
We booked this hotel as it was were we spent our first wedding night 40 years ago! The staff were very welcoming and even gave us a bottle of bubbly to celebrate. The room was comfortable and clean and the hotel was well located for the town centre, Dudley Zoo and the Black Country Museum. The kitchenette is very useful but breakfast and evening meals are also available at the The Office bar and restaurant which is part of the Hotel.
Interesting location and not well signposted so quite hard to find , rooms and bed were comfortable and tidy , not luxury but every acceptable. Great restaurant Hickories right next door which was very good. Some of the best American smoke house food I have had in the UK with friendly and god service and some great beer , whicbh was a real bonus .
The hotel staff were friendly. woudl stay again if I was in the area.
When we arrived to check in there was an incident in reception with a drunk guest. The staff member dealt with it well (Nathan). He apologised and offered to upgrade our room to an interconnected room. Our boys were very happy with this. Nathan was very professional and we are very grateful that he took time to consider our needs and ensure we were in a quiet area. Thank you.
Good location and parking. Very useful to have a fridge in the room. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Nothing was to much trouble. I would like to mention Tony Mckeon who runs The Office bar and restaurant, as soon as we arrived he gave us a warm welcome. He made our stay that little bit special telling us facts about the hotel and the local area.
The location is great for our purpose, 24 hr free parking if you stay in the hotel, plenty to do around, Merry Hill shopping centre just opposite, Brierley Hill town is about 5-10 walk. Dudley Canal is right beside the hotel, excellent canal walk in good weather. The indoor pool tempature probably the best that we been to, it just warm nicely.
Whilst the hotel is in a somewhat run-down area my room was much better than I expected. Whilst the carpet had clearly seen better days my bed was really comfortable and everything I needed was there. Having a bath was an unexpected bonus in the en-suite and the facilities were basically clean. There was ample milk, tea and coffee.
Very clean overall, spacious and clean bathroom, bigger towels than in a lot of other places, big TV in the room, super friendly reception staff, very comfy beds and pillows, free parking Saturday/Sunday, great restaurant, big screens cinema-style in lobby, fab location to Dudley, Birmingham, supermarket, other restaurants...
UNFORTUNATELY I WAS UNWELL AFTER TRAVELLING TO DUDLEY AND RANG THIS HOTEL TO EXPLAIN.THE FOLLOWING DAY I TOLD THEM ABOUT MY COVID POSSITIVE TEST AND THEY KINDLY WAIVERED ALL COSTS THAT I SHOULD HAVE PAYED.. SO NO, I CANNOT SAY ABOUT THE HOTEL BUT I CAN SAY HOW BRILLIANT THE MANAGEMENT WAS
It was a double comfy bed with a kitchen area & shower room. Kitchen had a fridge also plates, glasses, but no microwave. Had view of back garden, road wasn't too noisy even though very close to Dudley High Street. Had TV, I didn't really use. Good size for price.
Cooking facilities as well as tea/coffee making in the room. Good breakfast, also had a good evening meal there, handy for the main attractions of Dudley, zoo, castle, Black Country Museum, and the market and town hall. TV and shower worked well and easy to use.
Breakfast was O.K nothing special though.Evening meals very acceptable but very limited choice.
Hotel was very clean in both bedrooms and restaurant. Beds were good ,Staff pleasant , easy parking .
bed broken and unlevel. Hotel was dirty. Our member of staff who attempted to stay felt compelled to not stay the night so checked out and booked into a local Travelodge at his own cost
The property was lovely. I didn’t find the codes for the doors hard to understand as some said. It is right by the town centre and a short walk to Dudley Bus Station.
Place was in a good location right near Dudley zoo was brilliant for that TV was a great bonus all channels Netflix Amazon utube all free itwas ok for a night
It's in a good location, few steps walk to town centre. It's a very clean and calm property.
Studio was spacious and clean. Cleaning staff was helpful.
