Even though it has quite limited options of where to eat in the island, for climbers it is a lovely place to go. A lot of the beaches I know from there are pebbled one so bring suitable footwear so your feet do not hurt. This is the second time (always in Sep) I come to this part of Dorset, I discover something knew evert time.

We visited Portland to go on a Sailing trip on Moonfleet. Great experience and a fun day.
Restaurants were limited in the area. Salt is near the harbour but card only and expensive. The Cove Inn is beautiful, gorgeous setting to watch the sunset.
A trip to Portland Bill is a must whilst visiting, stunning views.
There are places of interest in Castletown with the D-Day museum and Castle just around the corner.

Scenic with lovely coastal views.
Scenic with lovely coastal views. If you like cliffs and walking or visiting lighthouses, it's great. We didn't get on to Chesil beach - couldnt quite work it out.
The cafe we found was really expensive!!

We were learning stone masonry so were very interested in the quarries and fossils. We ate our fish and chips from Ray’s at the lighthouse - what a lovely view. We ate at Les Enfant Terrible and Rockfish in Weymouth - the Crab shack was fully booked sadly.

Didnt know much about Portland before going but had an excellent long weekend there. Kids loved the pebble beaches and rocks to climb over and finding lots of fossils made their weekends. Lots of things to see and some good pubs and food options. Also very close to weymouth but glad we stayed in portland

A lovely base for the Jurassic Coast and easy to get around.
A lovely base for the Jurassic Coast and easy to get around. Lots of interesting features and some surprises, like the windsurfers over the hotel. Food was particularly good at The Heights, but for our return trip the hotel service was disappointing. On checking out, I was told to book direct next time!
It didn’t feel like a hotel, more like visiting your lovely grandmother having your own separate suite in her house. It was quiet, room was spacious and the garden view was just exceptional. Bathroom was clean and it had a tub where you could sit in it for a nice relaxing bath. Margaret also made an exceptional English breakfast - best I’ve ever ate at least - each morning, and the atmosphere was in a dining hall, either peaceful to classic songs or friendly and talkative with other guests staying in the house.
The Pulpit Inn has an excellent location. Unfortunately due to a financial problem it will be closing in the near future .The rooms were probably the largest that I have stayed in and were very comfortable but as I have said the Inn will be closing and many areas are in disrepair. The areas in use however are generally very good. The breakfast which was included in the cost of the room was excellent. My wife said it was the best she had eaten for a long time !
The room was very clean and we had excellent view from the room. We could see the harbor and sea from 2 sides of the room. The room size was reasonably good size. The breakfast was very good and we all enjoyed. Number of parking was limited, so we had to park on the road just next to the Hotel. There was a paid parking on back of the hotel which was reasonable price and free from 6pm-8am. The location was very close to the Chesil Beach and Portland Castle.
Shit tip but a fun night away . Bloke on the desk never even worked there. The manager was getting pissed down the local . But myself and my misus was absolutely pissing ourselves with laughter, think pee nearly came out. Budget bnb. All good for what we wanted probably only go back just for the craic as never laughed that much in ages 🤣 😅
House was VERY CLEAN, spacious and very well equipped. Regarding the property and quality we wanted for nothing in that respect. View from the attic bedroom magnificent, bathroom & shower had lots of space and even an extra toilet room on the same floor was very handy. Kitchen modern & had everything you needed for a week or mores stay.
My partner came with me to make deliveries in and around Poole and Devon. As it was holiday season finding somewhere to stop was proving hard but we found this gem! Although it is near the Quarry there was a coastal walk and beach to walk along. Staff were more than helpful and very friendly, thank you.
We had the weather on side because it was a lovely warm sunny weekend. Plus the views from the hotel across the English Channel coastline and Dorset was stunning 😍
Would recommend this hotel and Portland for a short visit or longer if you have the time, because it was beautiful 😍
Mark & Jo was very polite and made me feel very welcome. The hotel was lovely. Breakfast was nice. Would love to stay on my future visits. Best property I have ever stayed in Weymouth/Portland in all the 15 years that I have been going.
View from the dining area was fantastic, watching the Sunset was even better. Room was very good, very clean, no problems at all. Breakfast was also very good, plenty to eat. Plenty of parking space. Staff were all very helpful.
Location was perfect, beautiful garden, comfortable feel with plenty of flexible sleeping accommodation, generally well-equipped and practical kitchen with a lovely aspect. Easy access to wonderful locations in Portland.
Location. Beds were all comfy nice linen. kitchen had everything. Nice utility room. Bathroom and showers were nice parking was OK it had free WiFi. nice little park near by.
Friendly staff. Good size room and bed. Food excellent. Breakfast chef helpful. Unusual building but lovely outlook. Dog friendly and Bruce is lush. A stylish hotel inside.
The location was superb, loved the view over the sea and Portland Bill! Great access to walks and a nearby restaurant. The pub had a good selection of beers available.
