It was a very nice hotel smack dab in the midst of all sights. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was a pleasant surprise because we unexpectedly had a side view of the castle. The accommodations were comfortable and spotless. We had a huge bathroom and amenities were plentiful. I want to go back there!
Friendly, welcoming, lots of interesting sights and sites. Great for finding pubs with live music available. Compact, nothing is too far away, but be ready for lots of steps and hills. Good shopping, tasty food available without breaking the bank. Take the bus for a bit of beach time too, just 20 mins and £1.80 from Princes Street to Portobello.
We love Edinburgh and go through every year to celebrate getting a little older! The choice of pubs, restaurant's, coffee shops and shopping outlets are fab, with a good cosmopolitan feel and mix of nationalities. Transport options are always good.
Great City for getting about, both around the City and to surrounding areas. Good public transport networks. No need for a car. Plenty of cafes, restaurants and places to stay at all sorts of different prices. Close to the sea (Firth of Forth) and the countryside.
Edinburgh is a great city to wander around , there’s plenty of history, scenery, and quaint streets and alleyways to explore in the old town. The castle is spectacular with lovely views. There is plenty of pubs cafés bars restaurants everywhere, to suit all budgets. Shopping opportunities for all tastes, and all areas can be accessed on foot. There are endless tours, activities , and things to do, including tram ride, open top bus tours and theatre.
Royal mile favourite place, bus service very good in city.Nice fish and chips in "Clam shell "on Royal mile Street beside Starbuck.Nice place to visit with kids Our dynamic earth,World of Illusion, Edinburgh Castle, Walking Tour Harry Potter.Would like return back to Edinburgh.
A stylish wee hotel in the heart of Edinburgh. The bedroom and bathroom are very spacious and beautifully furnished. A huge, comfortable bed and lots of sitting space, with big bay window and lovely old wooden shutters. The bathroom has a big, walk-in shower and freestanding bath. And to top it off the family-owned Canny Man's pub next door is a quirky, fascinating old place with great food. With a bus stop right across the road and buses into the city centre every few minutes there's nothing to dislike.
Apart from the amazing finishing and feel throughout the hotel. Having stayed in some of the best hotels in the world in Dubai, New York and Paris, the staff at the Kimpton were the best i have come across in any hotel. Especially Robbie and Gavin, they were on hand at any time to help make a special stay for us even more special. We have already agreed to revisit Edinburgh and without a shadow of a doubt, The Kimpton will be our hotel of choice. Not a single part of our stay was not perfect.
The hotel was located in a calm neighbourhood with art galleries and good restaurants around, but not far from the city centre, just a few-minutes walk. Its location allowed us to know different areas of Edinburgh. It was a house with history, which you could see from the paintings and other pictures. The room was very cosy with a nice decoration and had a great view. The staff were nice and open to help when needed. A charming place.
Very nice stay at Village hotel. Two comfy queen size beds. Access to the gym and the pool (with saunas and whirlpool) makes it a real fun stay also on rainy days. The Starbucks is also a real plus. Many buses that will take you to the city centre in 15 minutes or not very much longer to the airport. The staff at the reception and during breakfast was very kind. For the next stay in Edinburgh we know where to stay.
Rooms were clean, breakfast was great - lots of things to choose from. If we run out of anything the staff replace them for us i.e toilet rolls, tea bags, milk etc...Beds really comfy and free parking as well. The hotel is close to the city centre, bus stop just outside the hotel to get into the city. Also we could just see Edinburgh castle from our window as well. We were on the first floor.
Great hotel. Location is ideal, transport in to Edinburgh city centre is ideal. Bus goes directly from the hotel in to the city, bus price is cheap. Offer free on site parking which meant we had the luxury of being able to leave the car and travel without having to worry about parking. Breakfast had a good selection, food decent. Would definitely recommend to use.
The hotel was immaculate, beautiful and stylish. The staff were friendly and informative. An excellent location for Edinburgh city centre. We were travelling for our wedding anniversary - we received a quiet room as reassured, as well as a thoughtful card from the hotel staff and the room was decorated with rose petals! So romantic and it really made our day
The staff make you very welcome. Lovely big rooms and ideal for Edinburgh City Centre as there is several buses that travel there. Also it was ideal for the concert I saw at The Big Top as there was a dedicated bus service that takes you too the gig and stops near the hotel on the way back. Restaurant is just next door..
Hotel du Vin is in a perfect location for exploring Edinburgh's Old Town. Despite being in the middle of the city, our well-equipped (coffee, iron, refrigerator, safe, bath soaps, etc.) room was very quiet. There are public spaces for relaxation, and many nearby places to eat. It was a good choice.
Only thing i liked was where the hotel is based not far from the city centre of Edinburgh which was helpful (also the people we met who was in the same boat as us made our night even though everything that was going on.
The Staff, location was excellent with great bus link connection to/from hotel... great location to Old Town, to New Town, to restaurants.. Big towels a plus... The whole thing worked... Thank you 💫
