The Fort Hotel, hotel in Forfar

The Fort Hotel is set in the heart of Broughty Ferry, 5 minutes’ walk from the seafront and the railway station. This family-run hotel has a restaurant, an award-winning whisky bar and popular pub.

The shower was mouldy around the bottom. The duvets were hardly big enough for the single beds. Biggest problem was that the ground floor bedroom was on the street level and as the hotel bar closed at 2am all those passing were loud and disruptive. We didn’t get to sleep till gone 3am. I know the bar can’t control the noise of customers on the street but when you’ve been told it’s a quiet room it’s very annoying. On the plus side the staff and food in the bar was good.

Forfar is a great little market town, filled with plenty of character. Lots of cafes and restaurants, as well as coffee houses. The usual spread of big supermarkets and plenty of smaller shops. Forfar is handy for Arbroath, Brechin & Montrose. Aberdeen is a 45 min drive north on the dual carriageway. Well served with good rail and bus links, north and south.

I love Forfar. The folk are so friendly.

I love Forfar. The folk are so friendly. Like most places, there’s been a lot of development in the area and a lot of new faces but everything is still within walking distance, supposing you’re fit for it. I love the West End bar where the staff and clientele make you and your four legged escort welcome. Alas, Frank’s is not what it once was. Lots of the multinationals in town now but the independent retailers are just holding their own. Shop local!

    A small town feel.

A small town feel. Core area very walkable and filled with specialty shops and tasty restaurants. Major grocery Shopping available right in town at ASDA. Usually next day service from Amazon Warehouse about 10 miles away. 30 minutes from beaches and 30 minutes to mountain. Enjoy many hiking trails and nearby Castle visits Like Glamis Castle famous for its setting in Shakespeare’s McBeth.. Less than 19 miles from the large major city of Dundee filled with shops, museums , restaurants and events.

A nice big house with 5 good sized bedrooms so our family group could stay together for a family wedding at Airlie Castle. We managed to put my brother and his wife in the downstairs bedroom so his snoring didn't disturb everyone else! There is good insulation between the floors :) There is plenty of living space across the lounge, dining room, kitchen and outdoors in the patio and garden. Only a short walk to two butchers selling the famous Forfar bridies. Very quick response from Keli to a query about the hot tub.

Bruce was the most wonderful host. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming and gave great recommendations of places to visit while in the area. Bruce's home is immaculate and he provides a fantastic breakfast with a selection of cereals, toast, jams and a cooked breakfast option. The wifi is noted in the room and there is an iron and ironing board provided as well. We were made to feel so welcome and will definitely return next time we're in the area.

Lovely Cosy flat in central Forfar within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. The flat had everything we needed for our stay and there was good communication from the Hosts. The bed was big and comfy and the shower was good too. Nice to see a handrail has been added in the bathroom as the steps are steep. A shelf for toiletries would be nice. Car parking outside is tight but we always managed to get a space.

Great location, quiet, superb property - best I ever seen, you can tell that the owner is a professional interior designer; the room and the facilities have these small details that make the room and the bathroom really special. Forfar is quite nice little town - worth visiting it for couple of hours.
