Only downside was the weather but that was to be expected.
Only downside was the weather but that was to be expected. Many things were closed or had limited access due to poor weather and flooding, again this down to nature, not human failure. Loved the Isle and so much to visit and see. Locals very friendly and you feel safe there, a lovely atmosphere everywhere.

Beautiful, clean and a must to visit. We will go back. It was our first visit to the Isle Of Wight and we were so impressed. Lovely family run restaurants, friendly people in the shops, on the buses and restaurants. Beautiful country views and coastal walks.

The location is excellent and a good starting point for cycling and walking. The apartment is spacious for two people and is well-equipped. With the windows open, you're close enough to hear the waves on the shore.
TIPS: Take an eye mask for sleeping if you prefer sleeping in after 5 am!
There is a super pizza van across the road - highly recommend - check for opening times. The same applies to a Travelling Bar on a bus it is situated close to the beach - 5 mins walk.
If you like good coffee - take your own Nespresso machine (we did!)

You don't go to Freshwater Bay for attractions, it is quiet and a bit run down, but there are other seasides close. Really great attractions like Alum Bay, The Old Battery, Tennyson Down, Yarmouth etc. are close by. Interesting town centre which is long and has individual shops, places for coffee, fish and chips etc as well as several major supermarkets.

A wonderful destination for those who like to walk amongst stunning scenery with views of water in all directions, study birds, and see a variety of gardens with Mediterranean-type growth.
This delightful, listed property has a huge garden in the middle of Freshwater, perfectly located for walking to the sea or onto the headland. The village atmosphere is cultivated by a combination of thatch, tiled and modern buildings with a Church and pub just along the road. The shops of Freshwater are also within easy walking distance, including an Indian restaurant with a mouth-watering menu!
The bus service is frequent, so the car can have a rest too. An idyllic holiday location.

Freshwater, Colwell Bay and the South West area is a great location. Great sandy beaches, excellent walks and lots to see and do. Head North to Yarmouth on the Coastal path and back round to Freshwater on the disused railway track, or South to the Needles and return on the inland walk ways. The Red Lion in Freshwater is a great friendly pub, tucked away in a quiet area but well frequented by locals and holiday makers. Great selection of beers and any other tipple you might fancy. A goo selection of home cooked food awaits (although when do triple cooked chips become roast potatoes? go with the skinny fries!). The Hut on the beach at Colwell is a must if you have a special occasion to celebrate, pricey but well worth it for the experience. Also try the Highdown Inn at Totland Bay, a good stopping point when walking.
Great, quiet location within short walking distance of Colwell Bay, bars and restaurants; a short, 10min drive from the Needles, Yarmouth and Freshwater Bay. Well-appointed, modern rooms, clean and elegant; a good size for a couple. Breakfasts were definitely a highlight of the day with plenty to choose from and high-quality cooking! Hosts were gracious, friendly and welcoming too. We also chose to hire bikes for the day from the cottage - well-worth the £30 for a day’s worth of cycling!
The bungalow is airy, spacious, very well kitted out - even trays provided to carry food outdoors to eat - and situated in a peaceful lane, 10 minutes walk from the Bay, overlooking a field. There are plenty of places - front and back - to choose from to sit outside. A well-stocked corner shop is 5 mins walk away.
The care which Carol and Brian take to ensure that EVERYTHING is spotlessly clean meant we had no health and safety concerns in this current Covid climate.
Brambles Kip had everything we needed for a lovely week's holiday; it was modern, clean and comfortable. It has great views of sky and sea - and a lovely wooden table and large window to see them from - or garden chairs out the front. It is in a brilliant spot, with walks both ways along the coast; and a private beach below the cliffs to swim in. It's close to shops in Freshwater, and great pub meals in Yarmouth. The site itself has outdoor play stuff for kids.
- Convenient and large private parking space downstairs right outside the property.
- Only 8 minute drive to the Needles, 5 minutes drive to a Michelin restaurant with nice sea view.
- Fresh flowers from the garden in the hotel.
- Exquisite home cooked English breakfast and catered to our dietary requests.
- Very clean throughout the house. Hallway & bedroom had a pleasant scented smell.
- Excellent host, was very considerate with great personality.
The accommodation was easy to find in Freshwater, nice to see the signposts showing the way. I loved the fact that it was only a few minutes walk away from the beach. Some restaurants for food/drink and it was a nice walk along the beach watching the boats.
The cottage itself was amazing, very spacious and with nice comfy beds. Even though all cottages were quite close together you still had a good sense of privacy.
Rockstone cottage is perfectly located close to the gorgeous Colwell Bay and The Hut restaurant. The beds were super comfy and every morning we were served the most incredible breakfast! Denise, the host, was lovely and helpful and we even got to meet her gorgeous dog Nelson (don't worry - he doesn't roam the place if you don't like dogs and we didn't hear him once). We would not hesitate to stay here again!
For a family of four with two small children it was perfect. The swimming pool was great, the location, the soft play and the accomodation. Excellent value. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Accommodation was very toasty. Perfect location for exploring the beautiful Isle of Wight. Cosy beds, well equipped kitchen and soft towels. Walking distance to the beach. We had a great stay in the depths of winter.
A well laid out, clean property in a quiet location, yet only a few minutes away from Yarmouth, Totland or Freshwater, with a nice view across the Solent. The property was also warm and cosy when the weather turned stormy during the first few days of our stay. Free parking opposite property, Wifi and Freeview are also provided. The two mini wines awaiting our arrival were a nice touch !
I am delighted to have stayed at Tollgate Cottages. Very high standards of cleanliness, furnishings and equipment throughout. Lovely breakfast to set us up for the day. Very quiet location with extensive garden and views. I would be very happy to return to Tollgate Cottages any time.
Really quiet and perfectly located at a nice walking distance from Freshwater and Totland Bay. We booked it relatively last minute and got a great deal. Our hosts were very kind. We arrived earlier in the day and could still leave our luggage in our room. Thank you!
We really liked the location and that the room backed onto a balcony which backed onto the sea. Beautiful views of the coast. Swimming pool was good although a little cold. Fantastic walk from Freshwater Bay to the Needles.
Lorna was a pleasure to deal with and place was perfect.
We will definitely be returning here next year, If its available!.
Tucked away and very quiet. Freshwater is a Beautiful area of the Island, plenty to do.
Excellent location close to the most scenic area and hiking trails on the Isle of Wight. Stand alone well furnished The host, Carol, was the best - very helpful. Great large breakfast served in the room.
Great location, and the house is equipped extremely well, and so aesthetically pleasing. Smooth check-in and the beach is right there. Accessible by public transport too!
