Wonderful walks for active people and their dogs although poor weather will reduce enjoyment as views are restricted by mist and cloud. Carparking at foot of Roseberry Topping available at reasonable charge, payable by card only.

Great Ayton is a small village that is near Middlesbrough. It offers a peaceful location whilst at the same time offering enough facilities such as shops, pubs and take aways. It is well located for people who wish to explore the countryside or venture further afield to the coast eg Scarborough or Whitby. We stayed in a delightful modern bungalow that allowed dogs to stay. The property was very comfortable, with private off road parking and was situated within 5 minutes walking time from the village

Great Ayton is a pretty little North Yorkshire village and the gateway to the Cleveland Hills. It has all the facilities you'd want- a number of restaurants, takeaways, local taxi company, a village green, cashpoint, a few pubs and a micropub. It's also got a pretty stream running through it. It's easy to access and connected by bus, train and taxes to nearby Middlesbrough. It's worth a visit and is a good base for exploring the area but it could do with a crackdown on dog poo - there's quite a bit. If that were to happen, it would be perfect.

We were there for a wedding so didn't get to see a great lot. The town centre was lovely and we will go back again for a break. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, people were friendly and welcoming. We dined in The Royal Oak serving a great steak, and good breakfast. Local info from the bride and groom was that it was one of their favourite pubs and eating houses. Easy place to walk around, need to explore more of the locality.
