There was a lovely vibe to this old inn, the decor and atmosphere and it was quite busy the evening I stayed with people eating and drinking but wasn't noisy or brash. The staff were, every single one of them, kind, helpful and couldn't do enough to ensure you had a great experience.
I only down graded comfort from excellent to good as I had to work there and the chair would not fit under either desk so it made using my laptop very uncomfortable but the other facilities in the room including complimentary robes, fresh milk for tea and coffee and lovely comfortable bed compensated for this. I had to ask for a hairdryer as there wasn't one in the room but this was a minor inconvenience soon resolved.
Would recommend and would definitely stay again if in the area.

The reason I stay at the White House every time is the food is excellent every time. Proper home cooking. Rooms are nice. Garden is beautiful. Great place.

Warm and welcoming;had a fridge and microwave on landing if you needed to keep your food or drinks cold. Great beds and power shower. Lovely breakfast in the morning. I felt like I was at my mother in laws house clean cosy room.
The Anvil Lodge sits just off the main street, away from the hustle and bustle of the old market town, but an easy walk from pubs, restaurants and quaint shops.
