Meals were superb, huge portions. Cooked to order but worth waiting for. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff willing to go the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The only problem was the bed creaked every time we moved. Excellent location. Travelling from Norfolk to the highlands, we needed to split the journey and this was almost half way.

I could definitely recommend both The Gables Hotel & The Gretna Hall Hotel, although I only actually stayed in The Gables Hotel, but had food in both. The wedding reception was held in the Gretna Hall Hotel & the main meal was amazing.
Some wedding guests stayed further afield and didn’t sleep properly being near a noisy motorway.
The Blacksmiths was well worth seeing & it has an interesting history. Plenty of parking at the rear of the buildings.

Work being carried out on floor above early in the morning , drilling and banging . These rooms should not be used , wasnt warned about this . Very poor , Didn’t sleep at all well . Staff very friendly and attentive except on check out . Personally wouldn’t stay again

My son was travelling home to Oxford from inverness- his car broke down at the services. I booked a room whilst he waited for recovery- which took over 30 hours- he was travelling with his 10yr old son- staff werexamazing
Had to make a stop off in Gretna Green at short notice on our way back from Scotland a day earlier than planned. Booked here giving an hour’s notice. Arrived to a friendly welcome. The owners (sorry I have forgotten their names but they were a lovely couple) gave us a bigger room than we had booked to ensure we had a good night’s sleep. They directed us to local places still open so we could get supper. The cooked breakfast in the morning was lovely. All in all had a wonderful experience.
We stayed overnight at the hotel as it was the halfway point on our journey from Kent up to the far North of Scotland. We had a lovely family room which was clean and comfy. Staff were all really friendly. Food in the restaurant was delicious. Gretna Green is a beautiful place with lots of history. Shame we were only passing through this time, would have liked longer to explore but we were on a tight schedule due to sad family circumstances.
Staff were friendly in the evening in the bar and Restaurant and at the main reception but not so nice at Breakfast. Didn't seem to have hints on hand and there was only 4 tables fir Breakfast. Didn't realise it was a dog friendly hotel (which in fab fir those with dogs ) but don't think the dogs should be allowed to run around the bar area.
The property was in a quiet area off the motorway. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was very good.
It’s a destination for weddings and it was enjoyable to see a few, complete with bagpiper, while we were there.
Overall, the property appears to be dated.
In an excellent location near to the railway station and the famous attractions, especially just across the road from the Gretna Hall Hotel and the couple currently running it are lovely. It is currently up for sale.
Lovely hotel, staff all very freindly. Room had everything we needed. They even put a tiny fridge in there for my medication. Very close to Gretna Green. Beautiful grounds and a lovely little church. Very quirky.
Hotel does what it says on the tin! Cheap stop off on the way up North. Newly refurbished rooms made our stay far more pleasant. The location is what you would expect for a hotel on the services.
Breakfast was at main welcome break site 500yards away was good and reasonably priced for a service area hotel clean and tidy dog friendly but out dated fine for one night
Lovely greeting by very friendly host - Carolyn. Great room and facilities. Perfect location. Fantastic meal at the Gretna Hall Hotel on the opposite side of the road.
