The hotel occupies a handsome, brick-built Tudor revival house which like the garden is Grade II listed. It stands in extensive grounds, just off a main road. It has clearly recently undergone thorough restoration/redecoration, and the interiors, while retaining period features (the house was owner-occupied until the 80s), are bright and fresh and thankfully free of bling. The bedding is excellent and our rooms at the top of the house were spacious and comfortable. Dinner in the equally spacious restaurant, with views over the grounds, was also very good - a welcome change from the ubiquitous fish-and-chips and pie of the week you meet when travelling across England, and no more expensive than at the pub-type hotel we stayed at the previous night. Breakfast was also fairly good.
In the heart of Sussex, this magnificent country house hotel is set in 312 acres of private grounds and parkland, yet conveniently close to Gatwick, Brighton & Hove.
With beautiful gardens, Beechwood B and B offers hearty breakfasts and 5-star bedrooms. The award-winning B&B is set in the village of Halland, in scenic East Sussex.

We stopped here for one night, to go to a wedding nearby. The place had everything we could have needed, with an especially comfortable bed and a lovely powerful shower. There village was also lovely but we didn't get the chance to have a proper explore. The host was super lovely, whilst the house is connected, there is a good separation for the annex that we stayed in and we didn't hear anything through the walls etc.
This quintessential 18th-century coaching inn is located in the heart of the Sussex Weald, on the edge of Ashdown Forest. The Chequers Inn offers free Wi-Fi, free parking, and an on-site restaurant.

The owners (Geraldine and Mark) have worked really hard on...
The owners (Geraldine and Mark) have worked really hard on landscaping and turning this once farm into a superb fishery. There are two main fishing lakes and each lake has two sets of accommodation so its very secluded and there are not loads of people staying at any one time, so it's very low key and relaxed. There is a natural swimming pond/pool which we didn't try but is very clear being spring fed and there are another five lakes/ponds on a large nature reserve area on the hill behind the main fishery which is pleasant to walk around. There are pubs and shops close by and there is an information guide in each hut with suggested walks, days out and take away menus. The accommodation was lovely, cosy and comfortable and there are lots of thoughtful touches including a welcome selection of Milk, Juice, Fresh eggs, bread rolls, butter and Croissants. We took everything bar the kitchen sink thinking we would need it and ended up leaving it all in the car as the hut had everything you could possibly want and if it wasn't there Geraldine and Mark were only too pleased and helpful to provide it. There is a separate block with facilities for washing and drying clothes with a larger shower and toilet area if needed. My partner loved the fishing and caught Linear, Crucian and Common Carp, Orfe, Tench, Roach, wee Gudgeon and even Goldfish! Mark is very knowledgeable and willing to help you make a catch so its a perfect spot for a novice as well as the more seasoned angler, although you don't have to fish to stay there. Geraldine and Mark are friendly, thoughtful and very kind and nothing is too much trouble for them. We will definitely be returning. *****
