Millstone Country Inn, hotel in Hathersage

Set in the heart of the Peak District National Park, Millstone Country Inn is within a 15-minute drive of Chatsworth House, Ladybower Dam and the Blue John caves.

From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the staff was evident, with Paul and Patrick standing out for their friendliness and willingness to help. The hotel’s location proved to be an excellent base for exploring the local attractions, adding convenience to our stay. As dog owners, we were delighted by the hotel’s pet-friendly approach. Our Dog was pampered by the staff with complimentary dog treats and water bowls, making it clear that this establishment truly values all guests, both two and four-legged. Our room was comfortable, spacious and immaculately clean, with a bed that promised and delivered a good night’s sleep. The shower was top-notch, and although the single-glazed windows allowed some traffic noise during the day, the peaceful nights more than compensated for it. Breakfast was a feast to start the day with—a generous plateful that left us more than satisfied. The Sunday roast was a highlight, boasting the best flavours I’ve had in a long time, served in portions that were nothing short of generous. Parking was conveniently located across the road, with ample space for about 50 cars, ensuring that finding a spot was never a concern. In summary, this hotel is a gem that I would wholeheartedly recommend. Whether you’re traveling with pets or looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay, this hotel ticks all the right boxes.

    Nice little village.

Nice little village. Just enough places to choose from to eat and drink. Great spot to set base for your walks. Clean toilet facilities and local shop for most food supplies. Plenty of places to walk from and public footpaths.

Nice village. Lovely walks around it so it’s a good base.

Nice village. Lovely walks around it so it’s a good base. Chip shop. Maazi for curry - nice. The plough inn or Little Johns for drinks. The plough inn for good food. Not much in the way of shops. Nisa local or a One Stop, if you want food for walking. We did the Hathersage, Stoke ford, Eyam Moor, Grindlow, Hucklow edge walk via Leadmill (from the plough inn front door)

We only stayed for one day and night.

We only stayed for one day and night. The highlight for us was dining with family and friends at The Scotsman's Pack. Relaxing in the quirky dining room at The Millstone Inn before staying the night was a great experience. Hathersage is a lovely place to wander around and a perfect base for walking adventures (not that we did that on this occasion).

It is a pleasant, sleepy little town. Not much to do or see here, but some nice walks and easy to access from Sheffield. I came here for a climbing trip (recommend) and walked around the countryside, which was nice.

Absolutely spotless. Loved the little touches such as the tea/coffee in jars and plenty of nice biscuits. The fridge in the kitchen has bottles of water and juice that we could help ourselves to. Lynne is a wonderful host, so kind and helpful. Walking distance to the centre of Hathersage, perfect location. The continental breakfast was delicious and plentiful. My son loved the table football! The bed was so comfy and loved the shower. Would highly recommend a stay here. Thank you!

Morton Loft is a clean, well-equipped and comfortable apartment located in the middle of a village which has plenty of facilities within walking distance. The owner kept in contact and followed up after our stay. Although positioned above the butcher's shop and on the junction of two roads it is quiet at night. Hathersage is a great base for exploring the Peak District with excellent walks from the village and has a train service to Sheffield and Manchester. Recommended.

We liked people working in the hotel the most. They were all interesting and lovely individuals, great chatting to Mark every day, what a wonderful man! And the owner was just fantastic! Breakfast was delicious and massive, served in a beautiful room, and our doggies got some munchies also! Rooms were really nice and spacious with a lovely views of the town, so overall we had a great stay!

Fantastic location with east access to Hathersage and the Peaks beyond. If you’re looking to do Stanage Edge the walk starts 10 minutes from here. Everything was clean and comfortable for our stay. The bedroom and en-suite are modern with great views outside. Breakfast was fantastic and a great start to the day and they attended to all our needs and were delightful to talk to.

Great hotel located in Hathersage. Staff were friendly and welcoming and were there to help if needed. Ate in the pub on two nights, although lively with regulars, food and choice of beers were very good, hence going back the second night. Room was clean tidy and bigger than expected. Traditional breakfast was top notch a great start to a day in the Peak District.
