Everything was great except breakfast. In small print on the menu it stated that breakfast was rationed to one particular type of breakfast, for example, you could have a continental breakfast alone or you could have a full English breakfast alone or you could have a vegetarian breakfast alone. You could not mix and match. This meant I could only have a full English breakfast but could not have any croissant, could not have any cerial, could not have any yogurt. Furthermore the Toast arrived after I had received my full breakfast, not with the pot of tea and there was no jam or marmalade offered with it just very hard butter from the fridge. Having said all that, the hotel was excellent, the bedroom was excellent and apart from breakfast, the whole experience was excellent. We will definitely go back there again despite the breakfast problem.

The room was basic but clean and served as a great base for our stay.
The food was outstanding! We ate in the bar in the evening and had breakfast in the restaurant the next morning - absolutely gorgeous food, can't recommend it enough. Excellent value too.

Although the property is aged it is kept in good repair and very clean..the character of the building and furnishing reflects a real charm and the staff make you feel welcome from the start..The food is a little expensive for a pub but the quality and quantity justify this

It is a lovely little village not much there for kids but if you like walking it is a really good place, also all places are dog friendly. there is an outdoor heated swimming pool in the village but we did not go in. We did go on a bus tour which is £9.50 for the day we went on the Blue tour. This takes you through the peak district up to blue Johns mines with amazing sights and all the way back to Chatsworth house. You can jump on and off the bus at different villages. We went to see Little John's Grave and a lovely little church in the grounds to visit. there are a few pubs in Hathersage to eat but we ate at the Little John pub.

Hathersage is a good location from which to undertake walks up into the surrounding hills - Stannage Edge is a must - take the train along the Hope Valley to Grindleford and Edale or drive to many other routes.
Hathersage has a number of amenities - food, pharmacy etc - including excellent outdoor equipment and gear shops with people who know what they are talking about and can advise you accordingly.

Nice little village.
Nice little village. Just enough places to choose from to eat and drink. Great spot to set base for your walks. Clean toilet facilities and local shop for most food supplies. Plenty of places to walk from and public footpaths.

Nice village. Lovely walks around it so it’s a good base.
Nice village. Lovely walks around it so it’s a good base. Chip shop. Maazi for curry - nice. The plough inn or Little Johns for drinks. The plough inn for good food. Not much in the way of shops. Nisa local or a One Stop, if you want food for walking.
We did the Hathersage, Stoke ford, Eyam Moor, Grindlow, Hucklow edge walk via Leadmill (from the plough inn front door)

Hathersage is a great location for loads of fabulous walks and attractions in the local area. Ofcourse Hathersage itself has the outdoor, heated lido and there are many quaint country pubs scattered locally serving delicious food.
Absolutely spotless. Loved the little touches such as the tea/coffee in jars and plenty of nice biscuits. The fridge in the kitchen has bottles of water and juice that we could help ourselves to. Lynne is a wonderful host, so kind and helpful.
Walking distance to the centre of Hathersage, perfect location.
The continental breakfast was delicious and plentiful. My son loved the table football!
The bed was so comfy and loved the shower.
Would highly recommend a stay here.
Thank you!
Morton Loft is a clean, well-equipped and comfortable apartment located in the middle of a village which has plenty of facilities within walking distance. The owner kept in contact and followed up after our stay.
Although positioned above the butcher's shop and on the junction of two roads it is quiet at night. Hathersage is a great base for exploring the Peak District with excellent walks from the village and has a train service to Sheffield and Manchester. Recommended.
Lovely room but a bit hot and stuffy although we had a fan supplied in the room the window was too small to notice a difference when opened. Bed was right in front of door which when opened would give anyone in the corridor full view.
Bit disappointed to have to pay extra for tomato juice or a capaccino coffee at breakfast. Breakfast was of good quality and tasty but no yoghurts or fruit available as part of the breakfast like other hotels in the area.
Fantastic location with east access to Hathersage and the Peaks beyond. If you’re looking to do Stanage Edge the walk starts 10 minutes from here.
Everything was clean and comfortable for our stay. The bedroom and en-suite are modern with great views outside.
Breakfast was fantastic and a great start to the day and they attended to all our needs and were delightful to talk to.
We’ve stayed twice before and love this inn. Fabulous views and walks on the doorstep, cosy log fire in the bar (our preferred dining spot) and a delicious belly pork roast followed by home made crumble. Staff are friendly and our waiter recommended local Ladybower Reservoir walk which we did next day *****. . Room was spotless and comfortable .Hope to return soon.
Location was just outside Hathersage, about 10min walk away. Excellent area for walking out from so you don’t have to drive to a start.
The room was very nice, clean, well equipped and had a comfy bed.
Breakfast had a good selection of options.
We also ate in the pub too and it was excellent.
Staff were very nice, accommodating and polite.
We spent the record breaking 2 hottest days ever recorded in the UK at the Hathersage Little John Hotel.
The windows were new enough for us to fully open them and the curtains gave us good shade, so our stay was very comfortable.
Some hotels have old windows which are practically impossible to open, but they worked brilliantly here.
Hotel management was extremely helpful and very hands on. Food was excellent and well priced. Sited on the edge of Dales with wonderful walks from the hotel. Popular at weekends but there was sufficient staff to cope. Dogs and muddy boots friendly.
The location is excellent as it’s in the middle of Hathersage so there are a few shops within easy walking distance. The room was clean and very comfortable. The food was great and the service was excellent. I’d love to go back again one day!
Very nice selection of hot meals for breakfast. Extensive menu of wine and food choices in the restaurant for dinner. Lovely attentive staff who looked after us well even during a temporary cut in power supply one evening.
Paul the host was great. Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
A big comfortable room with fabulous views. Plenty of car parking space. Well located for sight seeing and Hathersage is a lovely little town
Lovely location and host a short walk from Hathersage. We enjoyed Jo's over night oats for breakfast and benefitted from her local advice for restaurants and going above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
We chose this hotel due to it's proximity to the walks of the Peak District. Staff were very helpful and friendly and efficiently dealt with our issues regarding a request for a room change.
We had an awesome afternoon and evening here. The food was wonderful the staff were so friendly, and it’s a lovely family that run the Inn, they make it a special place to go!
