The breakfast was excellent, rooms very clean, tea and coffee tray in our room. Excellent location, good parking at the back of the property
Dog friendly.
A lovely little town. Obviously you will most likely be going for the bookshops. There are also other interesting shops, and on one of the days we visited - Thursday - a market.
Lovely countryside around too

Hay is great , there is always something to do here. Some lovely antique shops and vintage bizarres. Great coffee shops and restaurants. The Castle has been restored and is a beautiful gift to behold. We love walking along the river to The Warren and having a dip in the cold water.
A little gem of a place.

Hay is a beautiful village with many historic buildings and interesting shops. There are many options for outdoor recreation in the area. One thing to note is that most shops close at 5 PM. My favorite meal was dinner at The Old Black Lion. Every meal I had in Hay was excellent. Please note if you are using the bus to get from the train station at Hereford to check the bus schedule yourself since Google Maps pulled from the wrong table. There is a lovely walking path along the River Wye with amazing views of the river.

A wonderful place to visit!
A wonderful place to visit! Quirky shops, vast array of book & antique shops and a lovely market. Coffee shops we’ve visited have all been excellent. My husband and I regularly visit for a night or two. We dine at the Blue Boar and occasionally the Indian restaurant- both superb!
Lovely walks, and a ambience of calmness & fresh air entices us back all seasons.
My daughter and I have also camped nearby- that’s was fabulous too!

pretentious!
pretentious!
Only one overpriced pub which did food I liked.. the food cost telephone numbers
A lot of visitors looked they had just come out of a 1960's folk festival
Er, since the advent of Amazon do we really need bookshops?
The place was fantastic, made even more fantastic with the greeting of the owner Di and her beautiful dog Captain - the best guest greeter, we loved him! The hotel also has a great swimming pool, which was lovely and nice and warm. Breakfast was great, the food is lovely and high quality. The place is literally in the centre of town, so if you want to shop it’s the best place to stay. Would absolutely book again on our next trip to Hay on Wye!
Everyone was friendly and helpful. The steps from the pub to the rooms are very steep and I was helped with my suitcase to my room. Hotel was very quiet at night for this weary traveler. Parking was so convenient. My salmon dinner was delicious. My compliments to the chef. Breakfast in the morning (included in booking) was also delicious. I am so glad I got to stay and visit Hay-on- Wye before the festival.
We had an excellent stay. The cellar apartment was spacious and comfortable - a relaxing place to unwind. We were made to feel very welcome.
The car park was only a short stroll away, and a very pleasant one by the river. A few minutes further along the path is the Warren, a wide open space in rolling countryside.
Hay is a lovely place and we would love to return - and, of course, stay at The Bridge Hay.
Excellent location, near the centre of Hay-on-Wye, but still quiet and peaceful. The cottage was spacious, well maintained and meticulously clean. It had everything we could possibly need and we all found it very comfortable. The best place we have stayed in Hay yet (out of 6 different accomodations). I would highly recommend this accomodation, it is great value for money.
Friendly and attentive staff
Comfortable rooms 5 & 6 & 2
Excellent breakfast, especially the fruit salad!
Very very convenient for town centre.
Dog friendly
Good Wifi reception
Did I mention the fruit salad..?
Mind your head! I'm 6'2"!!!😁
You are staying in a hotel that is opposite a Clock Tower. Be prepared for the chimes! Every hotel in Hay can hear it anyway...
The location was absolutely fantastic - so easy to reach pretty much anywhere else in the town. Very handy to have the Spar next door. It was very quiet despite being on one of the main roads.
In terms of the place itself - it was so clean and well appointed. It had basically anything we could need, including very thoughtful extras like local milk and bread.
Lovely, clean room with a lot of space, comfortable bed, and great ensuite facilities. The flat-screen TV was a nice bonus! Very friendly and accommodating staff. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. Very close to the centre of Hay but on a quiet street.
We really enjoyed our stay at The Smithy, our hosts were very welcoming, the room was great with a wonderful view, very peaceful surroundings. Huge breakfast meant we were set up well for the day. A great location for visiting Hay-on-Wye. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Spacious tents, very comfortably fitted out but still felt like camping. Toilet and shower facilities good. Nice communal tent with generous breakfast and hospitable all day tea and coffee. Easy walking distance to cental Hay. Charming and attentive hosts
Location was perfect, amazing view from the room, bed very comfortable, 5 star accommodation, fantastic selection of breakfasts cooked to perfection.. Thank you Chris and Christine for a wonderful stay, wish we were staying longer.
Beautiful building with a fabulous garden, fantastic staff and very close to the centre of Hay-on-Wye. Plenty of storage in the room and really enjoyed that the bathroom had a bath and shower. Sparkling clean all over.
It was really central and close to shops/cafes etc. Great recommendations from host of what to see/where to eat. Really appreciated the parking space and quirkiness of the property.
Location superb in centre of Hay.
Spacious, lovely old fashioned and comfortable apartment.
Has everything you could need.
Would definitely come back here!
