The old Forge is an old building but very well maintained and we were very comfortable . We appreciated our host's generosity and the delicious cooked breakfast.
We were the only guests there as the hosts had to leave the next morning so had not taken more bookings. In deference to our early booking and the fact we were from Australia and possibly in the middle of our trip, they let our booking stand. We really appreciated this.
A real positive for this accommodation is that there is parking at the premises, and it is free. (Often "parking available " means paid parking in a council car park.)

Breakfast was amazing, just perfect, quality food and very well cooked and presented.
Nestled amongst the beautiful countryside of the South Downs, this Grade II listed country house dates back to 1577. Rooms with free Wi-Fi overlook 1.5 acres of peaceful landscaped gardens.

Breakfast lovely on the Sunday but we declined on Monday as only continental available. Continental again on Tuesday too I think
Staff here are really lovely and go out of their way to be helpful
Our stay was comfortable and I’m fussy
With a little update this hotel could easily be more than a 3star . Bathroom was fairly modern. I can’t review restaurant as we only had breakfast tho service was excellent, food good 😊

We stayed at Holmbush House as it was close to the village where we had lived for 15 years. We have since moved away & returned for a family celebration. It is well positioned if you want deep Sussex Weald explorations or just wish to enjoy the South Coast. Peaceful, tranquil & very, very restful.

The grounds are nice but the room wasn’t very clean; I found rubbish & lots of dust. The fan in bathroom was v dusty and so loud. The TV reception was very bad I could only get two channels. The bar & Reception was sticky and grimy to touch. The breakfast was very poor with a very slow domestic toaster, no staff, and a few boxes of cereal to choose to eat. I wouldn’t stay there again

Good Sizes room and bed but no hairdryer or trouser press as advertised. Couldn't work out how to adjust water temperature of shower.
Would have been nice to have free bottles of water in the rooms too seeing weather was so hot.
Good views from the rooms and set in beautiful grounds , would have had more time to,explore.

Be aware that breakfast is served quite late for a hotel.
Be aware that breakfast is served quite late for a hotel.
Did not like receptionist smoking at the front door of the hotel when i arrived
did not like going through the restaurant to get to my room
The room I was in had been nicely refurbished, it was a very big room for a hotel
The Location and grounds are more like a 5 star hotel.
Staff very pleasant and helpful, Breakfast only Continental but good and no problem.
Sadly no evening restaurant and as it was a Monday all local pubs had their restaurants closed.
Bed in my room needed its headboard attaching to stop noisy bouncing off the wall but a pillow behind by the wall stopped that. Bedside lights didnt work but despite these small issues I would be very happy to stop over here again.
The hotel has been renovated with a quite unusual but attractive style. The grounds have been thoughtfully planted and laid out. Lots of quirky extras too. A friendly ostrich, cassowary, rheas, llamas and other animals live in the grounds!
Our good breakfast was served in a very attractive room overlooking the garden.
Big, comfortable bed, nice cotton bed linen and towels. We arrived late but that was no problem.
I’ve been staying at this hotel for years, missed it so much during covid. I was lucky to get a room as Wedding parties were booked in. Lots of work has been done on the grounds and it will look amazing once established. The owner always has time for a quick conversation, Stuart and team are fantastic if I ran a hotel they would be the people I’d have to represent my brand. Just want was needed after lockdown !
The room and bathroom were beautiful, hotel has beautiful grounds with Oscar the amazing Ostrich Lama's and Alpacas. Lake has beautiful places to sit and waterfalls and is stocked with ducks and fish, staff were ALL amazing and couldn't do enough for me. Quirky but amazing hotel, loved it. Will be rebooking for October.
Just about everything.
Stuart and his team couldn't have been more helpful, absolute gems.
The room was lovely and we had a great night's sleep
The breakfast was probably the best we have ever had and we stay in many hotels.
Thanks guys and see you in October

The location for us was good. The grounds of the hotel were exceptional. The animals were an added extra. Staff were friendly. The room had a good size shower, plenty of hot water.
Large room, we had room 44. View of the pond and the ostrich which we were introduced to by Ben, the hotel manager. All staff members were friendly and helpful.
