I'm always a little torn with regard to giving reviews when we stay somewhere nice as it just encourages more people to stay then we can't get a room when we want one! In this case, however, the place was so good, I couldn't keep quiet....
The staff were all excellent - friendly, polite and accommodating.
The room wasn't massive but was very comfortable and well equipped.
The bar was great - small and traditional.
The beer was excellent and well kept and the food was outstanding.
I cannot recommend the Stapylton highly enough and will definitely be returning.
One tip - the restaurant is soooooo popular that I would recommend booking in advance....

This is a lovely market town with individual shops, and friendly staff. We also did a fabulous walk along the Cleveland Way to Rievaulx Abbey and back.
There is a diverse choice of restaurants in the square, and several pubs/hotels. We had fabulous food at The Feathers Hotel where we stayed, and Bantams Restaurant.

What a perfect location with so much to see and do within a short distance. Great food establishments in town from the Fish n Chip shop to what we think is the best Indian we've ever visited (& we live close to Bradford). Three lovely pubs that are all different & we even find the locals a friendly bunch too.

We spent almost a whole morning in the castle where there was much more to see than we had thought. The birds of prey centre nearby was also very enjoyable. The are a good range of shops and several places to eat.
Our cottage was gorgeous! It was cute, practical, warm, so quiet and the scenery was just amazing! We had our own little fenced off courtyard area so our dog could nip out for a sniff without us worrying that she's escape. The location was fabulous! We were a 10 minute drive from Helmsley and there was a little welcome folder with lots of restaurant and attraction recommendations. We've already recommended Valley View Farm Holiday Cottages to our friends and we can't wait to visit again!
We booked room only for a 2 night stay. The location is excellent. We had a large room, no. 2, that overlooked Helmsley square, which was lovely. The upstairs where the bedroom is, is large and spacious and there is book cabinet with books in for guests to read.
The staff were very friendly.
The pub downstairs is more of a traditional "drinkers" pub which is dependent on the clientele who are in.
It cost £100 a night, which was a good price compared to the other hotels.
Stilworth house is in the heart of Helmsley, an absolutely gorgeous town. Our host Carol was wonderful, the breakfast was amazing. Our room was perfect for us and it's situation in the centre of town meant that we could pop in and drop off any shopping etc. Carol gave us excellent recommendations including things to see and places to eat. We absolutely adored the town and are planning our return (hopefully with other family members!). Can highly recommend this wonderful b&b.
Very peaceful and quiet stay. Pets are weocome.Laura our host was on hand if we needed anything. A phone call or text to drop anything off. Very accommodating friendly lady and her son Spencer is a credit to her. Highly recommended.short walk into Helmsley town centre or the open air swimming pool. ( booking online is recommended prior to staying). Hoping to stay again in the near future.
Location brilliant and in centre of Helmsley with everything on your doorstep. Lovely high quality comfy bed, pillows and towels. We really appreciated the nice little touches of fresh milk in the fridge and the cookies. Having a parking spot was also a bonus. We met the hosts in the local pub who were warm and welcoming. I highly recommend The Nest.
The location within a five minute walk of Helmsley market place was excellent. The room furnishings were in real wood rather than the MDF type found in most hotels and matched the mid 19th century building which was very well presented. The breakfasts had a varied menu, we tried a different one each day and all three were excellent.
We loved the hotel, it was in a perfect spot and even though our room (number 3) was next to the church so we had a lot of ringing of the bells, the double glazing was good and we rather enjoyed hearing them, adding to the experience of being in Helmsley. The breakfast was great, staff were wonderful
Lovely cottage in a lovely setting. Very close to Helmsley for shopping, restaurants etc. Very peaceful. The cottage is very comfortable with good beds and comfy sofa. Nice, modern decor throughout. Lots of attention to detail.
Dave was very helpful and friendly. We would definitely come back here.
Harry and Lisa welcomed us like friends right from the start. The B and B was clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable and had all the amenities needed. They both were very helpful providing tourist suggestions. Breakfast was lovely as well. We enjoyed our time at the Carlton lodge very much.
Monica and Tony were excellent and friendly hosts. Our room was huge and the shower/bath were great. Our bed was exceptionally comfortable and all other facilities very good. Breakfast was substantial. We also got some great tips re local pubs and restaurants, for example the Helmsley Brewery.
Have already written an excellent review on the web site. Breakfast amazing, along with the room. Didn't have dinner in the hotel, but overall an amazing couple of days, highly recommened and have told other's about the Hotel.
Lovely country hotel , absolutely everything you could need in the room. Clean, warm and friendly atmosphere and lovely food too. Could not fault anything just wish we were staying longer as Helmsley has a lot to offer.
Fabulous location in Helmsley, wonderful host, lovely room with a fabulous bathroom - perfect for preparing for and after an ultra run event on the moors.
