Situated on the promenade, with many of its rooms providing panoramic sea views, the Westleigh offers a range of accommodation within easy reach of the town. Lovely location with wonderful views over the beach, and an excellent public playground directly in front, right across the street. Dave, the owner, is incredibly friendly and warm-hearted. We arrived one day later than planned, due to car trouble, and Dave simply moved our two day stay to suit our actual arrival time without any charge or fuss. In fact, he offered to do so of his own accord. Obviously he had no obligation to do so whatsoever, yet he essentially saved our holiday with his offer. So once again: Thank you Dave! To top it all off, he makes an excellent English breakfast, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. I cannot recommend the Westleigh enough, will be more than happy to return!
We have come back because we like being on the edge of the Lake District and seeing beautiful countryside.Heysham itself isn’t the most exciting place in the world but it is a good jumping off ground for getting out and about even to the Isle of Man!
I like Heysham villige it is an area of outstanding beauty. The Hotel was lovely. The garden furniture is in need of a lick of varnish or paint. Breakfast very nice if you can eat a diet high in sugar. Overall a little pricey. As you would expect everything to be high standard for what we paid. We came to visit family for a special meal. Which was nearly ruined by an incompetent taxi driver. Who dropped us off nowhere near where we wanted to be. Mary Street. He could have dropped right outside the door. We where late and very wet when we arrived.
We were visiting for the annual Viking Festival which I would wholeheartedly recommend. A fun event with the adition of some really good lectures in the beautiful church during the evening. The ruined chapel and rock-cut graves were amazing, and the coastal walks very pleasant. The "Royal" pub was a very pleasant place to continue discussions after the lectures.
I have been visiting Heysham and Morecambe since I was a very young girl. My relatives live there. It is a very special place for me and I consider it “my second home”. The area generally is well worth a visit, not least for the stunning Morecambe bay famous sunsets!
Trip to Lancaster castle and museum is well worth the effort and have a walk down the river Lune too. Heysham beach is nice for winkle picking and the village and pubs are quaint. Morecombe Bay has a nice Chinese Restaurant on the front.
Lovely village with coastal walk right on the doorstep of the local inn. You can walk for miles along the seafront into Morecambe and beyond. Heysham is a great base for visiting many tourist areas in Lancashire and also the Lake District.
