Sian and Alan were the perfect hosts. Super friendly, courteous and thoughtful providing outstanding hospitality. My room was lovely, warm, comfortable with a great shower. Fantastic TV and WIFI and the most delicious breakfast served every morning. Sian and Alan were very helpful suggesting places to visit and providing information on the local area. My wife and me booked at this delightful location on our trip to Orkney. The location is about 15 minutes by car from Kirkwall Airport and about 10 minutes from Kirkwall itself. This is the ideal location to stay as its in the centre of Orkney. The location is on the waterfront (hence the name) and the views from the room are amazing with all sorts of seabirds to be viewed. The room we stayed in had the usual appliances along with a double jacuzzi bath in the en suite bathroom. The room had a little mini bar fridge that was stocked with bottles of water, soft drinks and a few chocolates. Just outside the door to the room that has a nice little kitchenette with the facilities to make yourself a nice little breakfast to start the day. When we go back to Orkney we will definitely be looking to stay here again.

A place combining plenty of history of different periods (we went on a fantastic trike trip (https://orkneytriketours.co.uk/) - great experience, visiting the Italian Chapel, standing stones and Scara Brae. The town itself has a 12-century cathedral, historical ruins, and museums, including the wireless communications museum, which was created and is being run by enthusiasts. There are also different daily art groups at Gallery 25 (https://www.facebook.com/Number25Kirkwall/?locale=en_GB) which we enjoyed joining. And the local English is very melodic - it is a pleasure listening to it! I can't say we discovered the fantastic seafood, but there is a lovely shop, The Brig Larder (https://www.jollysoforkney.co.uk/pages/the-brig-larder, one can also order local delicacies to be delivered) - again with lovely staff and a good selection of locally sourced dairy, cheese, seafood and preserves.

Kirkwall is a beautiful little city.
Kirkwall is a beautiful little city. I came for the incredible Neolithic history and to search for family ties in the area. There are many jewelry shops as well as artists studios and tweed or wool shops. The museum is also fantastic. It’s a fibre artist’s dream.

I would not stay at this hotel again out of choice .
I would not stay at this hotel again out of choice . We visited a restaurant out of town for a meal and it was superb. I then read the reviews for this restaurant with rooms which was in a beautiful location with lovely views and they were excellent also far cheaper.
The restaurant was the Foveran and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Also visited the Italian chapel and the site of the discovery of a 3000 year old settlement both of which are a must to see.
I played golf at the Kirkwall golf club very friendly and welcoming although totally self booked with honesty box available .
The location to town is really convenient, just a quick walk in to Kirkwall. Very nice to have a dedicated parking area too. The new owner/manager Andy was so very helpful and friendly, easy check in. All of the breakfast staff were super friendly and efficient, breakfasts were really nice as was being able to make your choices the night before. Room was very clean and well stocked, the entire hotel smells clean whenever you enter.
Hotel has a perfect location around the Kirkwall harbour area, everything is a city centre is in a walking distance. Staff is located in a sister hotel where also happens check-in/check-out procedures.
Unfortunatelly was able to stay only one night out of booked (and fully paid) two, cause of the "traditional reliability" of Loganair who cancelled the flight at the time of boarding.
Great location in Kirkwall. Plenty of options for meals within walking distance. Grocery store nearby. Central for driving to all the tourist sites, with parking outside apartment.
The apartment is cosy to come home to and well fitted out.. The owner was very helpful when we needed assistance, with good communication.

Breakfast was great. Location was coinvent to shopping and local restaurants. Parking was a little hard. Public car park nearby, but had to get free ticket every hour till 5PM, then free all night. Out the next morning. Small town and able to get our clothes washed in a nearby laundromat.
Debbie was very welcoming and accommodating when I arrived and the room was very clean and well equipped. The breakfast was good and there was a lot of options to choose from. Heatherlea is located very close to the centre of Kirkwall and is only a few minutes walk to the ferry terminals.
Very comfortable and spacious apartments. Well equipped kitchenettes. Decent wifi speed for the island. Free parking with a generous policy of allowing cars to remain parked after checkout for later departures when parking is available. Short walk downtown. Good restaurant and bar.
Debbie is a wonderful host and runs a fantastic B&B. Everything about our stay was great... well-appointed spotless rooms, tasty made-to-order breakfasts, and a quick walk to the restaurants, shops, and sights of downtown Kirkwall. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Couldn’t be beaten for convenience: just a few steps from the shops and really handy for everything else in Kirkwall. Plus it has its own parking place right outside. Yet it was quiet too. The house was a lot bigger than I expected, nicely presented and well equipped.
Staggering distance from Highland Park distillery. A warm welcome, clean and an interesting property with architecture, books and musical interest. Peaceful, and a modest walk into Kirkwall.
A great breakfast, delightfully presented.
Everything but the girl. Hey ho.
Very strategic hotel, almost in front of the fery terminal and the city center.
THe room was very comfortable and clean.
Nice bathroom with a bath tub.
Kettle with coffe and tea.
the personel at the desk was very nice.
There is a restaurant and a bar.
