Hillocks Cottage was a beautiful place to stay, and the food at The Red Lion pub was delicious and owners were so friendly. Visited Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock Bath, Buxton, CBeebies Land at Alton Towers, Peak Wildlife Park, Crich Tramway Village, Carsington Water, Ilam Park and Dove Dale, and Heights of Abraham. All within half an hour.

Kniveton is a quiet village with one pub but no shops.

Kniveton is a quiet village with one pub but no shops. There is a regular bus service as it stands on the main road between Matlock and Ashnourne. There is a village pub which is quiet and cosy. It is situated in an ideal position for walking and visiting local attractions such as Dovedale, Alton Towers, Gullivers Kingdon and plenty of walks.

Easy access to derby and Peak District which is what we wanted. Cottage was clean and well maintained. It is old with character so lovely but we found it a bit damp and musty ( just a tiny bIt) a short 3 night stay was fine. Good value for money! Sadly local Pub closed Monday and Tuesday - two nights we were there! Lovely local pubs if you are happy to drive 10 minutes. Gate Inne and coach and horses at fenney Bentley were lovely for home cooked food
